Things aren't looking good for me. My DRZ has some kind of weird problem I can't seem to figure out and I blew the top end on my CRF. The bike I could probably fix the quickest is my 82 KDX so maybe I'll be on it. It handles ok but those little bitty drum brakes are scary. How did we ever go fast on those old bikes? Or do we just remember going faster than we really did?

No need to go fast..its a ride, not a race!

Doc, you ever ride with Jim Devereaux? Or Dave Barclay, aka Disco? One or both of those fellers might be there, and I always end up following. Jim beat Jeff Fredette one year in GNCC and sometimes forgets he's old and fat. I just never know when he might take off and haul butt, I want to be ready. He don't go real fast, he just kinda goes kinda fast for a long time. Like 120 miles at a time. And that's just the daylight run. And thats 120 miles with no pavement. When it gets dark he don't really slow down much. I'll probably have a bike going by then, might have a big bore kit in my DRZ. New tires, better headlight, new brakes, maybe I can keep up with Devro on his stock S with worn out tires, stock headlight, and worn brakes. It's all about survival with those boys.

I have not had the pleasure yet of riding with Jim..right now he is stranded down near San Antonio with a bald tire and for all we know, he may never make it back to AR..he was headed west for a KKK meeting I think

I remember in my younger days I use to ride fast..and even to this day many say I still do..only on the str8 aways...as I get older, I have enough aches and pains coursing thru this old body that I really do not want to add anymore so I tend to slow down if I can not see at least 12 seconds ahead..single track just does not excite me anymore..been there and done that and got the scars to prove it..I just want to see where the roads go now, and suck down a good burger at the end of that road.

In my younger days, it was fun to work a motorcycle..not so much anymore. I like the Ouuu and Ahhhs more than the OH SHITs now.

Hope you get to make it to SLAP...

Hey Doc, if Jim needs any help down here in San Antonio (I'm guessing you meant Texas), give him my cell number if you can. I'll do what I can to get the boy rolling again. ;)

Thanks for updating the lodging situation Mossycreek. Looks like I'll be in the running for the snoring and farting contest.

Charlie spent a lot of time in barracks housing. I've done my stint. In the spirit of camaraderie I'd like to designate Travis to be on standby.
