free camping!!!

got to Foz de Iguazu late....found a campground and then went to get online for awhile and have dinner....had a burger with scrambled eggs on it and some fries for diez pesos....went back to setup my camp at about 11pm and was then told that the campground was closed.....shit....what to do now....I didnt want to pay for a hotel for such a short amount of time, so I set off to find a place to camp for free in town...the best place I could find was at the tourist policia station...so, I set up camp....and got a free wake up call at 630 by the policia telling me I had to leave....

by far, the hardest policia stop yet...

If you have to pay a fine, it's always on court. If they say to you that you have to pay them... they want the money for themselves.

PS: If you are heading to Ushuaia, we can meet and have something to drink (I'm in Rio Gallegos)

Iguazu Falls charges 2.5 times as much for foreigners than they do for argentinian residents. (also the same story at Machu Picchu, though even more extreme) Why don't we do that in the usa? We should charge all foreigners 5 times as much to see Yosemite or the Grand Canyon, and at least triple to go to Disneyland/world....

hardest policia stop yet....

they stopped me
looking for stuff that could be wrong
for some reason, they though my license was a copy.. and my headlight didn’t work again
so
i told them about my license geing stolen in belize by fake police that tried to rob me
they didnt care
it is an infraction
so
they ask for seguro
.. so i give them my allstate printout
which seems to satisfy them
there is four of them
i tell them that i have been stopped by Argentinian police 3 times already, and each time they make something up and want some sort of bribe to let me go
.. that still doesn't faze them
they tell me to come into the station so they can use the computer to write out my ticket
i tell them NO really loud
and then use my ipod to tell them that i was taken into a station by peru police and surrounded, and they demanded money from me....and since then i don't carry much money
i then i make like crazy and kinda shout at them dinero, dinero, dinero
they look at me like WTF????
.. then i stare off into space
.. rub my eyes for along time and then lay my head down in my hands on the action packer on my bike
.. and then
the whole time
i'm thinking wtf am i gonna do here
i tried to put them on the defensive of being a bad cop asking for a bribe
.. so then
they are asking if my ipod does translation from spanish to english
which it does
but i just ignored them
so
i finally say
i am going to bs as for a month
i'm going to have a new license sent to me there
Please let me just go there.
and then the ipod translates that
and they all look at each other and the main guy i'm dealing with says 'por favor' to the otheres
and then....
they hand me my papers and tell me i can go
..
