camping on the dunes just above the beach on the Atlantic coast of Argentina.....the wind was blowing so hard that we had to tie the tent to the car to keep it from blowing away....lots of laughs as we tried to setup camp...

no documentos!!!
I left my passport and driver's license in buenos aires when we picked up the car....we traveled a long ways in the car withouth them.. the car rental place overnighted my documentos to Trelew, Argentina....so, about 100 miles outside of Trelew, we got stopped by the Gendarmes (the police dressed in green). The Gendarmes are very professional, all business and can't be bribed or bullshitted like the other police that I have ran into. Somehow, Tania talked to them and convinced them to let us go in a car that wasn't ours and me without a driver's license or a passport. She was totally cool the whole time she talked to them. A match made in heaven????
We picked up my documentos a few hours later at jet paq.....

its called an Animita for "Difunta Correa"
According to popular legend, Deolinda Correa was a woman whose husband was forcibly recruited around the year 1840, during the Argentine civil wars. Becoming sick, he was then abandoned by the Montoneras [partisans]. In an attempt to reach her sick husband, Deolinda took her baby child and followed the tracks of the Montoneras through the desert of San Juan Province. When her supplies ran out, she died. Her body was found days later by gauchos that were driving cattle through, and to their astonishment found the baby still alive, feeding from the deceased woman's "miraculously" ever-full breast. The men buried the body in present-day Vallecito, and took the baby with them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Difunta_Correa
