I finally got round to drilling out the broken/rusted bolt remains & re-tapping - this is to hold the side stand kaboodal

Next is fitting the brakes.... I've gone thru' a few options, this being one that I've now rejected.....

It's a proper MICRON adaptor - converts the forks to use common Nissin 4-pots, etc.

I'm gonna use the lower caliper mount as a direct fit - just need 5mm shaved off the inside to align it - then make a small adaptor lug out of 10mm alloy plate, then JOB DONE I had wanted to get a new lug welded on, but the chap reckons alloy fork sliders will most likely deform/shrink if welded and the fork action may suffer

That stuff is more common in Europe because people build sportbikes a lot. Over here most people build choppers and bobbers and other such BS...

Nearly - but not quite They match better in "real life" - me camera phone is a bit naff

Must admit, there's plenty of quality "bolt-ons" to be had over here - but you American lads have access to the top notch engine kit

Has been a bit quiet recently - but finally got the front end sorted, Harris clip-on's & brakes all plumbed in, etc......

I've also mounted the fiberglass electrics tray & covered it in hi-tech heat reflective tin stuff....

Next on the list was the rear shock.....

... turns out its an old SHOWA unit - so I sent it off to an old boy who has a few years of experience and he's re-furbished it with a new rod & seals, plus fresh oil, reduced the rebound damping and re-charged with nitrogen (or summink like that). Have to sort the mount to the swingarm now

At last - the Rolling Chassis is completed (more or less)

The chaps at Faulkner Springs measured the rate of the one me SHOWA had fitted and sure enuff it was a 450lb effort - what normally gets fitted to a Harris Mag 1 I contacted Harris for a bit of advice - and Lester himself called me back for a chat :victory: 450lb is right for a 2:1 leverage ratio, but with the JMC its just over 3:1, so I ordered a 650 lb spring to try...... Anyhow after weeks & weeks of trying to suss out sorting the shock mounting to the JMC - I finally decided to uses some M20 studding, knocked up summink to fit the shock and made an alloy block to fit to the top brace.....

A local bike Engineer cut & welded it for me.... This friggin' JMC has cost me an arm & a leg :

SO, fitted it all together and it's looking OK....

You can see the typical adjustment range as it is at the mo' - but I can lower it another 50mm by taking off the backing nut if needed .....

LOWEST:

HIGHEST:

Also got hold of a proper Harris seat unit......... just gotta decide if I'm gonna use it :shrug

Finally checked on GROUND CLEARANCE for hacking down to the chippy on a Summers evening
