Want To Go To Baja For a Month???
Want To Go To Baja For a Month?
I was thinking of leaving after Christmas, but that is too far off! I am thinking a day or two after Thanksgiving and be home before Xmas? Riding the old KLR, taking camping gear, but won't necessarily camp every night. First trip to Baja. I want to cover most of the peninsula, but not any single track or deep sand on this trip. I plan to stick to pavement and gravel, gravel being better than pavement! I will enter and leave in the Calexico area. I will ride from Mississippi. Anyone want to go? Any advise? Places to go? Places not to go? Donnie

Tourist Visa For Baja
Do I understand correctly that a Tourist Visa is necessary for Baja, but not a Vehicle Importation as long as the visit is to the peninsula only? How is the crossing in the Calexico area? I can't find my last vehicle registration from renewing my tag, I have the one from the year before and a clear Title. Does it make any difference since there will be no importation? Does the registration trump the title on a road search? __________________ Donnie - Retired & Riding

I will be headed to Baja next friday!
The only real plan is to stop by Dallas and visit my daughter and to be back in Mississippi a couple days before Christmas.

It looks like the trip will be about 6,500 miles.
Vis point in Mexico include: San Felipe Campo las Casitas Ensenada Mission Playa del Oro Bahia de Los Angeles Guerrero Negro Santa Rosalia Lorento La Paz Boca de los Tesos Cabo San Lucas My KLR will have new chains/sprockets and tires. Plus it only has 68,003 miles on it! The longest trip I have done on this particular moto is 5,000 miles, so we will be breaking some KLR/Me barriers on this ride.I will be riding most of the main roads, many of which will gravel as far as I know. My GPS only has the main roads, but I do have a map. I would like for my second trip to Baja to be on the KLX250S and to include one or two other riders as well as some of the more "outback" routes.

Well, I wish I could. That sounds like a fun trip, but I just got my taste of Baja last month and it is too early to ask the wife for me to leave again for a month. Enjoy.

I donīt plan on doing a RR, but I am having a great time! I saw a Mountain Lion about 45 miles from La Paz a couple days ago. Not real big. Probably 35 to 40 pounds, 50 at the max, but more than I would want to tangle with! Taking a fair amount of photos. I will be glad to answer any questions anyone might have. If I donīt know the answer, I will make up something good!

Low 60s in the morning, mid 70s during the day. It is miserable!
