Your 1st farkle should be about $100 worth of gas.
Happy motoring!

V-Strom clutch cable fits perfectly!

I can't find any mention of this in this thread or anywhere else, so hopefully someone may be helped by this. I have recently bought a '95 KLR, which came with a clutch that required a very tight pull on the lever. I tried lubing the cable, but eventually decided to just replace the cable and be done with it.

Of course, this is Vancouver, BC so nobody had a KLR clutch cable in stock and a special order was both expensive and days away. Until the parts guy at Modern suggested that I bring the old one in so he could eyeball it. Lo and behold, he produced a brand new cable, with a much greater diameter cable, the same top end reinforcement and bend angle, the same bottom end adjustment barrel, and the entire combo was only about an inch longer than my cable!

I quickly bought it and on the way out asked what it was from: "Suzuki V-Strom 650" was the response. It fit perfectly and worked as you'd expect.

I also have a Honda VFR 800, and on the VFR forums, you are slagged for posting about a "new" bike and not including a photo. So here's mine. I'm even working on that clutch cable:

I know people will scoff at the idea, but it's just the drain bolt,JB Weld it,fill it,drill it and ride at least until you find a new 1,heck it's like patching a tube after awhile you realize it's ok.Good practice fer out and about repairs.

Hey Digitallyhip,I have yet to do it but you can make up new cables fairly easy, lots a net help on this one,I messed up and threw my old 1 away before I could use it as learning tool, when I built a Bobber a few years ago lots of people were doing it,when you build stuff with no factory sizes you gotta improvise, save your old 1 and see if you can build a good spare.

I wish the shop were mine. It's MotoMethod in Vancouver. For $100/year, you can use their tools, lifts and advice for $25/hr. You also get a t-shirt and free tire changes (wheels off the bike, $20 if they take them off). HIGHLY recommended.

I scoff at the idea.

I say drill it larger, tap it, put in a matching bolt, and don't shop for a new one.

(I don't really scoff at the JB Weld -- the devil made me do it.)

That's a good idea. I have saved the old one to throw in a bag as a spare for long trips (esp. now that I know it can do V-Stroms too!).
