Well, that's Mt. Stuart there in the picture and this is the same view of the north face that you get driving down Indian John Hill on I-90.

Hint #2 - The answer is not "the Indian John Rest Stop on I-90".

Twenty riders a day stop here in the summertime to check out the view. They are all DS riders going from Ellensburg to Nile or from Nile to Ellensberg.

I don't think Mt. Stuart is visible from anywhere along Wenas Road. You have to go farther north.

I must be looking at the wrong Nile We have never ridden dual sports in the Wenatchee Forest but have ridden off road bikes in the area numerous times.

Manatash Rd - Frost Mountain

From E-Burg to Nile, I agree that you can follow the Umptanum Rd-Wenas Rd-Maloy Rd route. But no views of Mt. Stuart along that route.

Manastash Road--after me and my buddy on his Transalp there in the pic left Ellensburg we did indeed take Manastash Road up the Manastash Creek. This is where the Overland Expedition Rally was hosted last summer. From there, I guess you take the 31 Road to the vicinity of Frost Mountain but I myself have never done this. Although I've thought about it. Those roads eventually take you to Cle Elum.

At the end of Manastash Road, instead of going north and west on the 31, we went south on Barber Springs Road. After a short climb, we came to the intersection with Manastash Ridge Road. If you go south and east on Manastash Ridge Road you eventually hook up with Wenas Rd and then can take Maloy over to Nile, or a more challenging route is to take Hog Ranch Road.

We didn't do that. We stayed on the "main" road that goes down to Rt. 410.

Here's another pic from later that day at Chinook Pass. This was Memorial Day 2009.

Sorry, no.

A short while after this pic ws taken, we arrived at the big intersection of 1701, 1714, 1713 and 1712. The last time I was on 1712 I think was in 2007. It was not in good shape.

I thought the road had a name?

Is that correct, a name is totally different than a number.

Not for me. I live on 46th Street. Around here, we would say that's the name of my street. The guy around the corner from me lives on Fordham Street. That's the name of his street. I've never really made any distinction between roads with numerical names and roads with alphabetical names. They're just names.

Anyway, I was hoping this pic would last longer than the 10 minutes my previous one did. I figgered maybe an hour.

Just to recap the hints from above--(1) we rode east on Manastash Rd out of Ellensburg. (2) we turned on Barber Springs Rd then (3) we did not turn onto Manastash Ridge Rd and (4) a little while after taking the pic, we arrived at the intersection of FR 1701, 1714, 1713 and 1712.

One more hint is that Google Maps says that the big intersection of the various 17's is a 12-mile ride from the Mt. Stuart viewpoint where I took the pic.

Was this pic with Norm (is that his name on the TransAlp?) while riding on the 2009 "Sasquatch Ride"?

Norm bought that bike brand new, if I recall......
