The last time I was on Old River Road I saw a medium sized black bear, where the road gains some elevation. He went up one of those steep hillsides lickity split, then turned to see if I was following. Yeh, right. It would have taken me an hour to traverse where he ran in a few seconds.

I had a couple of guesses but, the swimmers and roads on both sides of the river gave it away, to me.

Is it a "named" or "numbered" trail? Or neither? It REALLY looks like Moon Pass Rd., a mile or two north of Avery.

Biting my lip since I saw this one.

I'm having flashbacks. This was one of my Thunder Roads, in the "olden days". Old Ford Flathead 8 at full throttle thru here. There used to be a phone or power pole in the center of the road, a bit north of here.

It later became a training road for my rally adventures.

WINNER! I would have also accepted Old Milwaukee Rd. Railroad Grade. My bad for labeling it a 'trail' in the first post! The 'river' below is Nelson Creek.

Tourist...we might need to have you expand a bit on your exploits back in the day on this road. Sounds interesting to say the least!
