Here's another one we dug up, showing a bit more of the canyon. If I'm right the feature in the photo is one of a kind because I cannot find one other spot on this river that is listed as a falls! But I'm still looking, help prove me wrong....

Nope, I really think this road has been bypassed by many people. We are going back, the two FS roads heading East off this canyon have a lot of potential. We have been pouring over the Benchmark map book looking at routes and planning. And only one falls on this whole river system. So, looking for the name of the falls and the river.

Close enough! Izee is about 10 miles to the South of South Fork Falls. What I find interesting is that I can't find one other falls on the Main, North, Middle John Day, just this one "South Fork Falls" and it drains a huge area of the NW. The Aldrich mountains to the East need more exploring, Road 24 just below the falls going up Deer Creek was "Screaming" turn this way but it's on the list. Also, Rd 2170.... Okay, no more South Fork of the John Day!

Hilarious: Handy posted his picture of this same river/road just a couple days ago on this thread. I said it looked like any other location in Central Oregon. But didn't wager a guess. Even though I'd been on that road just this summer.. LOL That's even where I took a picture of the sheep. Posted a brief RR over on the Lava Lovers Lounge
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...6&postcount=20 Now I'm kicking myself for not guessing it.
