Yes there is a paved road up that switch backs paralleling eastbound I-90 NF-58 takes you from exit 47 to Alpental. It's a great alternative to the super slab either direction.

Choosing just one photograph was more time consuming than I thought it would be. Didn't want a photo of a place too remote or obscure but I didn't want to post a photo that would be too easy either.
Hint: its in Oregon
