This used to be the Gilchrist Supermarket, which my dad operated for 20 years. I worked there for several years during high school. The main feature of Gilchrist (for me) was all the roads in town were private, and there was 100,000 acres of private forest around it, all which was "open" to riding at that time. Fun times indeed.

I also grew up diving past Gilchrist, It was the "All brown town" as we knew it as kids!

Actually there was one street in town with different colored houses. It was called (strangely enough) Rainbow Circle.

We are going to Troy ford on the John Day, it's about ten miles down stream of Cottonwood crossing.

Okay liv2rydktms, throw those WA riders another photo! Maybe one from the Southeastern corner their state again! And yes that's Troy Ford but they have gated the West side right at the river and closed it. I'm not sure if you can even get to the East bank from the East any longer.

We tried a couple years ago, and were unable to get through as well!

Where were you last night? I expected you to solve the Washington mystery.

It's really hard but if I keep solving all the WA ones too they might ban me from the state!

Just so it's clear, you can still ride to the Troy Ford from the West but the ranch that was on the East side of the river has been closed to the public or at least the road has been.

I will add photo hints if needed to encourage you folks to ride the road!

BTW, I had to resort to searching your RR's because I could not figure out Troy Ford with the map, I recognized the spot but couldn't find out the crossing name.

This is a real fast WAG but I'm going to say that you took the photo in Oregon looking into Washington from FS road 64 looking North at Table Rock and Deadman Peak....

Okay, Kendall Skyline Rd. Map 118
