Kimi pulled a pretty impressive wheelie on one of those chicane curbs.

If you go down to the other end of the pit-lane, you'll find the DRS is activated by a bicycle brake cable and (early) BMW K-Series clutch operated side-stand retractor.

Oh well, maybe he'll get to avoid a turn 1 cock up.

Rough day for Fred. Maybe 10th on the grid will keep him out of any first corner schmozles.
Brilliant Q for Phil. Doubt he keeps his seat at Ferrari no matter how well he does for the rest
of the season, but a better second half should position him well with another team next year.
Anybody heard any rumors about where Massa might end up?

I'll take a shot at this. I'm gonna say Williams if Bottas doesn't get Senna's seat.

Pity we never saw how fast Alonso could go. Three different problems with his car so far this weekend. Bad omen for the race?

Kimi said Spa and Monza suited the Lotus. Huh. Sure doesn't look like it in Italy. 8th, behind old man and "past it" Schumacher, who finished ahead of his teammate too.

Schadenfreude? Guilty! It pleases me to see Red Bull struggle, now that they've been stripped of their creative innovations (bendy front wing, exhaust gas routing and engine mapping.) I assume they'll show better on a high downforce track like Singapore (yech!) But I'll take what I can get in Monza.

Luck once again seems to be with Alonso. A McLaren seems sure to win the race. In points race, that's exactly what he'd prefer. Both Hamilton and Button are far behind, and the nearest chasers Vettel, Webber and Kimi are all struggling with Monza's low downforce.

I'm actually rooting for Fred for the first time, especially since Hamilton has retreated back in to his insolent child mode again. I'd like to see the season finish with Fernando on top and Button second just to see the pouty one's reaction. It's a shame Lewis has that tendency because he can be a brilliant driver at times.

it's where you finish that counts... ahead of schumi.. who is most assuredly "past it"

overalll not a bad race.
drive thru for Vettel for pushing a Ferrari off the track
no drive through for Diresta for pushing a Williams off though... typical

unsafe release of Alonso vs Vettel? maybe a one race ban would help sharpen that up

prerace interviews didn't seem to be too hard on Big John. Vettel especially thought the ban was harsh. Then they showed all Vettel's fuck-ups and I can see why he'd say that

so Kimi in 3rd overall now only 1 point out of second, without a race win. Nice work Lotus!

Must be galling for Ferrari to let a customer car blast by them at the
end of the race to protect their points harvest and not risk a racing incident.
Prudent strategy, but a bitter pill to swallow to maximize Fred's championship goal.
I wonder if Phil was thinking 'There goes my replacement.' as Sergio sped by?

Loved the scene at the podium ceremony. Always a great celebration at Monza.

The "past it" man beat his shiny little teammate. And out-qualified Kimi. You might want to find a new definition for "past it". Yours is broken.

Happy to see Vettel roll to a stop. Odd that Webber has never run well at Monza.

Alonso continues to lead a charmed life. Finishes 3rd but extends his point lead. Just how long can his luck hold in a car that really has been less than stellar all season long?

Love to see the Chelsea Sauber do so well. Blues power! Amazing how fast it was at the end.

I quite enjoyed that race, despite Hamilton's dominance. Lots of tight racing. A spanking for Vettel by the stewards. And a surprising amount of attrition.

The "Will Lotus win a race?" watch continues. 13 down, 7 to go.

This spat between Hamilton and McLaren is absurd. Hamilton's not going to find a better car that wants him. He has a good thing going with McLaren.

And yet he and his agents are acting like petulant children. He didn't look his normal happy self at winning a race and he nearly "forgot" to go celebrate with his team before weighing-in at the end of the race. Without know anything about the guy, I can't help but wonder whether he's been spoiled rotten by McLaren's coddling over the years.
