load tracks to 60csx

are there any programs that willl load tracks//routes/waypoints onto 60csx without using mapsource.
2 of us are traveling and I have a netbook to load more tracks as we go but with mapsource "locked" to my gps I don't think I can load new tracks into the other gps..

Try it. I believe it's only the maps that are locked. You should be able to receive and send tracks and waypoints between the 60 and your netbook. Just make sure only tracks/waypoints are selected in the send/receive box.

we will try it but I'm looking to see if there is a plan B. If in the US I think USAPhotoMaps will do it. I know I can load to and from gps that program. Will be trying that next.

As 250 said, a typical "MapSource" disc had two parts: the MapSource application and a set of maps. Only the (some)maps are locked (R&R, old topo are not locked). The applicaiton will talk to any Garmin GPS and it will send/receive Tracks, Routes, & Wayppoints to any.

FYI I was able to download tracks for Gaspe area from mapsource to 60csx then upload from gps to USAPhotoMap program. It just does not show map where the tracks are. Then I was able to download back to gps which could have been any garmin device.

Other rider has a 276. If a 276 uses a usb cable I will try the track/route only and see what happens

If all you want to do is download and upload tracks Mapsource will work just fine.

We often go on long trips that require more tracks than my 60 will hold. One of the guys brings a laptop and I use his computer to download the new tracks to my 60. And I also use it save the running track.

If it were me, I would definitely try this before downloading and trying to learn how to use a new software package.

thanks for the info, I don't have a way to check out using Mapsource in till we meet to start the trip so the reason for an alternative. I did download easygps and it is a very simple program to use it only works with gpx files or you just upload from 1 gps and download to another. The other rider has a 276c which only handles 15 tracks..
