Day20 Dec 18 20 kms La Paz

I decided to stay in La Paz for another day and check it out. I thought I would go down to the tourist area and hablo some ingles with some of the touristas.

La Paz is a good size town, and even on a Sunday there is a fair bit of traffic. I foud the malecon ( boardwalk) but there weren’t a lot of people around.
Took a look around.

I am finding that, like at home, the people in the small towns are friendlier than in the cities. In the small towns, people have been coming up to me, or nodding and saying Buenos dias, tardes a lot. Or trying to make conversation with me. Not so in the city. People are more reserved, or don’t make eye contact. Some would say bueno dia or just dia if I would say it first. So down on the malecon, there are a few tourists wandering around. I say Hi….. they keep on walking, I nod to them, they don’t make eye contact.
Now, I am not the worlds greatest conversationalist, but can usually strike up a conversation with just about anyone, just about anywhere ( drives my wife crazy sometimes) and its usually not until I have talked to them a while that they decide they don’t want to talk to me anymore J
But, come on guys, you’re on Vacation!

So I wandered around for a few hours, had lunch at the Burger King. Had the King de Pollo, it was great and only $5 for the sandwich, fries, pepsi and an apple pie.

Got back to my room ( which is NOT on tourist row) and went down to the grocery store, where I found……. Peanut Butter. One of my favourite road snacks ( and I eat it a lot at home) is a peanut butter and honey burrito. Flour tortillas I can find everywhere, honey is available, but this is the first time I have seen peanut butter in Mexico, and I was getting dangerously low.

I don't know why, but I'm fascinated by those little groomed trees in the second photo.

Hey Brian. Good on ya! It's still my dream, to head waaay south for the winter. I remember you from the Big Traillee. Too bad Manxman has opted out. But great that someone is jumping back in. If I'm around I'll be there next year. And, oh ya. Great RR. I'll follow you to the end.

I am in Todos Santos, about 1 hour north of Cabo. Its cooling off here, too. Probably down to 20 degrees C.

I am glad you are following along. Enjoy!
