Cool2 Day 6 grand finale!

Day 6 Grand Finale

Snack time was very welcome. We were on an awesome little plaza that was overshadowed by this amazing, amazing church.

We zoom out of town and go up into the mountains again… as usual, amazing views everywhere you look! the whole village and valley… shot from turn out on our way out:

Later, we come to an overlook that is just being finished up… the VIEW. IS. AMAZING, even among amazing-ness!

We will be on that road soon enough!

Do you see the house? This is the view from the overlook…

… and these kids live there! Cute as can be, and SJE had crayons for them…

A man NOT in motion for once…

We blast off once again, and many, many, many switchbacks later it is bienvenidos a Urique! (FYI, I have liberally stolen from Boulderguys photos here, so credit goes to him)

Home sweet home for the night.

Secure parking in courtyard.

Room didn’t suck for 300 Pesos or about USD 25 for 3 people! Basic and clean is OK with me!

Main street Urique…

Evening falls….

We wander out into Urique, which is about the size of a postage stamp to THE restaurant, also owned by the hotel folks… menu was the same for everyone, and was spicy beef with beans and tortillas. We did have an awesome shrimp appetizer (in mountain surrounded Urique, go figure) that was spicy and reminded me of ceviche… it rocked after our awesome day of riding! A few/4 Carte Blanca Cervesas later… it was time to find our beds and begin again tomorrow!

Laugh Day 7 The road to Batopilas

Day 7 The Road to Batopilas

Starts with breakfast and cats… and dogs and whatever else can get into the kitchen area… they are motivated. I haven’t seen a fat cat or dog or, heck, even a fat person in the mtns yet…

We eat our yummy spicy eggs, refried beans and tortillas, the Nescafe gets a big thumbs down, and off we go to pack up our stuff and head off…

We quickly come to something fun, given the route that Boulderguy wants to take us on… a big*ss water crossing… a river, to be exact… sure you can see a “road” on the other side… but it really doesn’t inspire confidence at all...

See that house waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over there? Yeah, that is where we are going.... brilliant.

We let boulderguy go first so that he can show us the line to take.... he has no problem. I fire it up and shoot off... not only do I manage to throw up a bow wave and soak my boots, I almost stall out... I am not as good at this as I should be, and the other side is a long ass way off... I make it, but thought I was in trouble at one point...

sjeproductions launchs and does a fine job of it also. We get to the other side and 2 locals are there watching and laughing at the Gringos... as is correct and proper!

We tear off uphill and on out for our 2nd day of adventure.... off to Batopilas!!

It is a beautiful day to be out and about and riding! Look at those switchbacks! Amazing amazing stunning!

After some awesome riding in a pine forested area, we stop for a little snack and relaxing.

sjeproductions tries to make friends with one of the locals, who as in any good horror film, tries to “escape” by running down the middle of the road in front of him... then comes to its senses and dives off....

Angry cow is angry!

Gentri- Great trip report! Keep it coming! I'm missing CC already looking at your photos. CC is funny. It's really an addiction sort of. It's such a beautiful place and the experiences down there will last a lifetime. Now on to more trip report! I especially want to hear about the switchbacks of death.......

Hey, great RR. Looks like you had an adventure to remember. You were very fortunate to meet two guys with their knowledge and tag along. I hope 2012 smiles on you for sure. If you ever decide to take that trip again, let me know and I will be glad to make it with you.
