As far as the home brewmeisters.. I'm MORE than happy to sample whatever they bring... and pony up a little cash for their efforts.

Aren't those rather sweet? I recall a friend in college who was a fan of MacEwans Scotch Ale. My tastes run more towards dry bitter beers, porters, stouts that aren't too kickbutt strong, ambers, pale ales...

I think the alcohol range is 5.5-6.8% The key seems to be a peat smoked malt. If the sugar doesn't convert to alcohol, it tastes sweet, otherwise it should be malty. I figure I need to brew in 2-3 weeks to have the brew fermented, kegged, carbonated, and ready for Warped. Sorry, no Hard Lemonade this year. I could make some, But I don't have many lemons this year.

I'd love a copy of the recipe Mayor. Gerg and I are working out details, so standby on final selections. Voting is good but I see a Scotch ale theme evolving here...

was reading wikipedia and some other entries on scotch ale. the stuff we got here was apparently MUCH stronger than what the scots brewed for internal consumption. Most of the McEwan home ales were 3-4%, only one strong Champion Ale was anywhere near strong (sometimes called a "Wee Heavy"). that got packaged as McEwan's Scotch Ale for export at an even stronger 8%.
