Raft! Not shaft...

But the cook area labeled Cow has me concerned

AND Stu has thought all these years he's been in site 8? No wonder he stumbles around a lot... (Hey Stu, 11 or 13 is where you USUALLY throw your tent).

Actually, I was more than a little bit joking and figured Stu was as well (which is usually a safe bet).

A shorter 284 mile R/T ride (5.25 hrs) for those that don't want to do the whole ride would be: MRA to Olancha Dunes and Owens Dry Lake bed to Paramint Springs for Refuel (Sample the brew? and ride back) Route: http://g.co/maps/gxun9
In either case, why not take Panamint Valley or Trona/Wildrose back south to Ridgecrest instead of seeing all the same stuff twice?

Looking for riding partner on Thursday heading to camp, I am flexible on departure time. Leaving Vta county or I could meet up with somebody coming from the south. Trying to minimize slab time. Rds like Calient Bodfish are cool. I'll be on the thumper so I won't be up for 70mph + runs.

Has anybody suggested coming back via Mengal pass yet? It's beautiful up there.

Route is good for ADV bikes: Hard slab and n00b skill level off pavement. Ride Sunrise to Sunset, back for SAT dinner.

A shorter 284 mile R/T ride (5.25 hrs) for those that don't want to do the whole ride would be: MRA to Olancha Dunes http://www.duneguide.com/sand_dune_g...ncha_dunes.htm (See KTM Trail ride: http://www.photo2pixel.com/OD1.html ) and Owens Dry Lake bed. to Paramint Springs for Refuel (Sample the brew? and ride back) Route: http://g.co/maps/gxun9

Recommend at least 2 GPS for redundancy and SPOT within group.

We could connect from 178 to 9 mile canyon via very easy Canebrake dirt road. Then we avoid most of 395.

Indeed I was.
The "route" I proposed is a stumble around the campground (the side loop is a trip to the pisser).

I'm up for Piute Mtn Rd. loop on Saturday.
I got shut down by snow trying from both sides 2 years back, and like Gary I hit the top of Rancheria last year via Sawmill and got turned back.

I think the locked gate was enough, no need to fell a tree right behind it.

Sounds like great riding, and some fun riding to get there.

Can a non-ADV rider join the fiesta?
