Shinko Tire Fail
I just noticed my rear Shinko Tire is bulging on the treads, and it looks like it is going to fall apart. In one of these pictures you can see the tread bulging upward on one side

I have a 705 rear on the TDM..... 150-70/17, radial, tubeless. I have noticed a "split" across one of the blocks, well, not a split as such, more of a crease. I had hoped it was just a surface thing but it does not appear to be going away. I have a big road trip coming up (Paeroa, 19th feb yippee ) two up & fully luggaged at the hottest time of the year. A host of expletives spring to mind after stumbling across this thread. Oh well, I'm off to the local bike doctor & supplier of creased tire on Monday, I will get his onion on it. Blowing the tire on the motorway is not a happy picture..

705 failure?
Anybody had the big failure with a 705 yet? Blowout, tread-separation, de-lamination, explosive pressure loss? Went down? Just wondering.

That makes sense run an inferior tire close to home....then when "crash and burn" they don't have to ship your body back home ![]()

Lots of these pics are of tires that are worn past their usable range. Who runs an 80 dollar tire that long? Just change it. You definitely got $80 worth of use out of it. I have had great luck with them on my strom, but when they are worn out I change them.

Add me to the list.
Was going 70 mph when this beauty let go..... scary stuff, but didn't crash. I've had great experience with the Shinko 700 front tires, and the Shinko 705 rear, but not this 700 rear.....

I've had terrible luck with Shinko's myself. These are 244s on a DR650.

Absolutely right,,,,, my brother in law's, uncle's, boss's son once had a catastrophic failure that lead to him running into a bus load of nuns, kids and reports even had several kittens being maimed,,,,,,,,,,,, all because someone cheaped out on an inferior tire. I mean gosh,,,, "think about the children". ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
