radio frequencies
I plan on bringing my handheld ham radio to the race. Yes, I know it is likely nobody will be listening when I need it but figured it is worth having. I did some research on frequencies, both public "ham" frequencies and some used commonly for the SCORE races.
Note, US ham radio operators do NOT have reciprocal priveledges in Mexico (as we do in Canada) so use the ham bands in emerency only!!! Ham frequencies: simplex calling frequency: 146.520 (same in Mexico?) repeater XE2LLP (on a mountaintop near Laguna Salada) 146.910 (-) PL tone: 82.5 Other frequencies (all are simplex, no repeaters): NORRA 151.845 (I don't know how much they use this, if at all) Mag 7 153.380 Mag 8 secondary 150.830 *Weatherman 151.625 **Search & Rescue 155.160 * there is no Weatherman for this race but I have heard that pre-runners sometimes monitor this freq. Worth calling out here in an emergency. ** this was from a Baja 1000 frequency list, probably nobody listening on the S&R frequency during this race.

In other news...... Nashville TN is 62 and cloudy with occasional random showers. Yes, they still have a Harley dealer, so stop in for tassles and a fresh doo rag. This news feature brought to you by Baldoni tires.

I've spoken to the Mag 7 guys, and yes, they'll be monitoring that frequency.
For NORRA, we'll have sat phones, and the plan is that those are primary. I don't know to what extent that frequency will be listened to. (But also, I'm scoring, not Operations, so I wouldn't necessarily know, either. )Anders
