I got some trigger time on a S&W PC1911 and OMFG I was hooked! I'd love to get a PC1911 someday but it's difficult to justify buying one at $2300, a 1911 will most likely be the next gun I buy, either Springfield Armory or S&W, I've heard too many stories about poor build quality on Kimbers and slow service getting them repaired. S&W will fix your gun and promptly! My buddy bought an 80s 586 a few months back, that was never modified during a recall campaign (80s/90s?), he called smith and they fixed it up and sent it back in no time at all.
I love mine - no problems with it and S&W is close by if it ever needs attention.

anyone here shoot a Sig 1911? I am 1911 shopping and ran across some Sig's at a local shop. They had a TacOp with rail for $850. They also had a Springfield Range Officer for $799. I know springfield makes a nice 1911 but I have no knowledge of the Sig stuff. Good shooters? Reliable? Decent price?

Havent shot the 1911 models yet, but more ammo that I could lift over the years..never a failure to feed, never a problem of anykind. They are bullet proof.
My next is their stainless steel target 1911. Cant wait for that one.

I work at a gun range and our rental Sig 1911 has probably 30,000+ rounds down the pipe with no problems.

Thanks for the info guys! I have a couple more shops to stop at tomorrow, I want to see what they have before I drop the cash on the Sig. The Springfield RO really caught my eye though. 1911 shopping is tough, there is too much to choose from.

Think used, not new. I picked up a nice older used Colt 70 era Commander this past year for $700. It had been fitted with a set of MMC adjustable sight by a previous owner. I don't think finding a simular full size would be too much trouble.

Sig makes a good 1911. But be warned, they've become sort of hit and miss over the past year.

Springfield makes a good 1911 too, but expect to spend a little cash upgrading the safety, lockwork and assorted small parts.

I had my 1911 Scorpion out for the first time today. I've never been much of a 1911 guy, but I love this one. Smooth, shoots where it's pointed, and handles great.

FWIW, I'd buy either a Springfield or a Ruger. You can't go wrong with either.

Actually you can. When Springfield came out with their answer to the Kimber Ultra CDP, I bought one. I know Springfield makes good firearms, but that one was an absolute piece of shit. Wouldn't feed rounds, stovepipes, etc. I took it back and got the Kimber instead.

Many months later I read that there was a certain production range that had bad magazines, which was causing the feed problems.

And btw, happy new year buddy. Hope things are well for you's guys.
