One of these things is not like the others...

mmmm..bbq

Chasin Bigdog again this morning

And then the carnage....

So Bigdog, Roaddad and I were cruising and somehow i drifted off the side of the road here:

Somehow manage not to slide down that hill and bring it back on the road. According to Jerry who was behind me, when it came back on the road, the lip launched it airborne, and when I hit, everything exploded...I remember the bars going side to side real quick, going down over top of it, then sliding on the ground still on it...Here's the skid marks of the tires, you can see where it hopped:

And then slid

Ripped the fender bag, scraped up the windscreen, fender, turn signal, bark buster, and headlight shroud a bit, but all in all the bike took it like a champ

My Klim Dakar pants and Mojave gloves were toast after it though. When I slid, the knee pad and everything hit and took the brunt of the force, but as I was sliding, they pulled down on my leg, and the stretch panel met the road. I've got about a quarter size spot of roadrash on my knee and a few little spots on my hand, but all in all I'm fine.

Bigdog took a lot more pictures of everything..I'm sure he'll post them :)

Someone asked for a pic of kiddo's pinewood derby car.
He got another overall win Saturday.

Yup...great ride, great fellowship and real shoutout to Ralph at Rock Creek Cabins.

Someone just had to take a picture of Big Blue laying on the ground at the Hoosier Inn and then, B) POST IT!

Second time the bike has been dropped...and neither time was I near it. Irony...talking about the sins of Harleys and a BMW falls on my bike! Must have been pissing off the biker gods.

Kudos to the ride committee...let's make this an annual event.

If your bike weighs more than 400lbs. You might not make it.

damn.... it's like that huh..

we were gonna show up and listen to you chumps talk smack round the camp fire, but... turns out it was a dry county! i mean seriously, how can ya sit round a campfire and not drink beers? whatcha supposed to do, just stand there n stare at each other without even gettin a buzz on? the sparklin conversation with you chumps only goes so far, i need a lil sumpin sumpin to get me thru all that.

so kneekicker n i hit up the whiteboy mexican joint for dinner. i knew we had demonstrated poor decision making skills when we entered the "mexican" restaraunt and paul n amy were eatin pancakes n eggs?! but they had budweiser in bottles... so how bad could it be. the buds were the best part, so we kept em coming. then figured it best to just head back to motel. besides.... rick is an anti social sob, don't like a crowd.

sunday we got up round 7:30 and hit breakfast buffet... did a lil shoppin and made it to cabins/camp site round 10am as we wanted to hook up with a select few for return trip, just assumed the start was same time as saturdays start time of 11am... so far as i knew... we were early. that joint was a freakin ghost town. you guys musta kicked the roosters in ass this morning. what was the rush? i didn't know todays start time was first light.

rick was relieved though, he don't like a crowd no way... so we rolled on out as is... just the two of us. we aint all that swift with all that new fangled technology, we had the tracks loaded in our gps's.... but we seem to miss most turns, we seem to get it figured out ok... but it aint pretty. sometimes i am in front till i fubar the turn and signal my mistake... then he hits the turn and takes lead... then he spaces the turn and signals the mistake and i hit the turn and take lead. this seems to take place the entire trip... and works perfectly for us...... we did catch some folks though..

someone caught a flat..

cool... a fairy ride..

uh o.... kinda close quarters... n rick aint good with crowds..

even found something i wanted to swipe for my ol buddy paul..

then today not to awfully far from start (maybe an hour) i notice he is not in my mirror... hhmmm... sup with that. i pulled off figuring he was jacking round and got behind. waited....... waited, then this funny feeling came to me. dangit, this aint right. turned round and started back, didn't see him and knew something was up. remembered a car going other way on that stretch a lil earlier. now i really felt a nasty feeling in belly. couple miles back i found him laying on side of road.... and no bike in sight! no pics of that, but he finally got up n shook it off complaining of hurting hand. then found the bike..

turns out he came round this turn with nose on gps... the turn straightened out... but he didn't. found himself in wrong lane going head on with car i passed earlier.

after shitting himself, he corrected and ran hinself off road and into ditch... look closely and you can see tracks going down into ditch, he rode that bitch on out for a long ways before hitting a nasty hole..

this is where hole was and landed where the bikes are in this pic..

we finally decided to get it back on it's feet and assess the damage..

he tore some shit up, but itsa klr... so you really can't tell the difference.. i usually carry way to many tools n crap with me, so i had a couple jumper wires crammed into tool roll, which was handy as he ripped kill switch/start button off... along with some other stuff, but at least with jumper wire he could jump solenoid to get it started.

he decided to hit main road and head to house as he just wasn't feelin it after that get off... can't really blame him. he assured me he was ok so i continued on the route..i really wasn't feelin it that much either, but i carried on..

had a good time and logged 527 miles on the ol girl.... got 39,000 miles on her now!

hope nobody got hurt this weekend....

Yeah, I didn't use the knee/shin guards 'till recently, and don't see go'in back to pad-in-pocket knee armor anytime soon.
I got the fox padded ones under some old Technic pants and was surprised that they weren't even noticible on a long run.[dont "plan" to need 'em, but that ain't how it works!]

'Tweren't any worry about something to drink, either--the campground owner was out there at the fire with a bottle of Knob Creek. I'm sure he'd have shared some with you.

The campground was pretty quiet, though and only a handful of people were out by the fire. You'd have thought it was a BMW rally.
