memorial the 13th

Gary's last name was Echlin. I tried to load a couple pics from Moab but have never had a lot of luck out of this site, sorry.

We wanted to keep you all up to date on Gary's memorial. The service will be
on Friday, January 13th at 7:00pm at Mount Vernon Christ the King Church at
2111 Riverside Drive in Mount Vernon, WA. A dessert potluck will follow. In
lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Mount Vernon Pregnancy
Choices, the NRA or Rehema Ministries in Anacortes, WA.
We hope to see you there and hear any amusing stories or touching memories
that you may have.

Howdy All,

I propose we gather someplace earlier then the service on January 13th and ride to Gary's Memorial Service. Can someone suggest a meeting place and time?

My home is really close by, about 4 miles or so. We could meet up here, or maybe Big Rock Cafe? I'm in either way..

Howdy All,

I could bring one of my sidecar rigs if a family member wanted to ride with us from the meeting place to the Memorial Service. If a family member is interested in doing this contact me so we can set it up.

I'm planning on attending, if you guys are going to ride I'll tag along. Mark's house or the Big Rock is fine. I'll keep an eye on the thread.

That wasn't the last name he used at work. Sounds like the right memorial service anyway. I'll be there; Mark I'll meet up with you beforehand if that's the plan.

Edit: I'm planning to ride over there, unless it's just pouring down rain. Gary used to ride to work pretty much all year long on his 950 or 525.

"GARY COLE ECKERMANN (1954 - 2012) | Visit Guest Book
Gary Cole Eckermann, age 57, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, January 1, 2012. He lost his battle against lymphoma at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA, surrounded by his loving family.

Gary was born in Bethesda, MD, August 1, 1954, to Weldon and Nelda Eckermann.

When he was just 16, he met the girl of his dreams, who later became his wife of 36 years, Portia Jean Woodside. In 1980, their first child, Talitha was born. Their son, Warren followed just two years later. He moved his family to Skagit Valley in 1989.

He loved spending time with his family, especially playing with his grandchildren. Gary was adventurous and thrived on outdoor excursions; riding motorcycles, hunting, solving mechanical challenges and helping friends fix vehicles. He felt a strong tie to Baja, loving the culture and its people. He lived life with passion and was always seeking a thrill. He was a friend to all, often taking time to chat with strangers or lend a helping hand to someone in need. His advice and spiritual wisdom touched the hearts of many. He was confident of his salvation in Jesus and looked forward to spending eternity with Him.

He is survived by his wife, Portia; children, Talitha and Kyle Ozechowski, and Warren and Jennifer Eckermann; grandchildren, Mia, Garrett, Owen and Claire; mother, Nelda Eckermann and many other relatives.

A Celebration of Life service will be held, Friday, January 13th at 7:00 pm at the Mount Vernon Christ the King Church at 2111 Riverside Drive, Mount Vernon, WA with Pastor Rick Snodgrass officiating. A potluck dessert reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Mount Vernon Pregnancy Choices, the NRA or Rehema Ministries, Anacortes, WA. Published in Skagit Valley Herald Publishing Company on January 7, 2012 "

Bump

Weather looks decent for Friday a little cool but no rain.
Friday: Partly cloudy. Highs in the low 40s and lows in the mid 30s.

I'll offer my house (in Burlington) for a meet up place as another option. A few of you guys know the way.

Howdy All,

Lets decide on a time and place to meet for Gary's Memorial Ride. I have no preference on where we meet but we should get a plan locked in so folks can work out how to get to the meeting place on time so we can ride together.

I'm in the same boat as Mr Cob, I'm in wherever we meet up so unless someone chimes in with a better Idea lets say my Place between 6:00 and 6:30. I'm 4 miles North of the Church and this will give the guys coming from farther away a place to warm up for a bit while waiting for the group to show up.
