Headlight hookup help needed.
Never like to assume so...FIRST: Just want to confirm that the solid green wires on the Jap bikes are usually grounds?
I have an 1987 Super Magna and I'm fitting an aftermarket headlight. The aftermarket light has a main hi/lo beam bulb with 3 wires (white, blue, green) just like the stock 3 prong plug. It also has what looks like a 2nd small running light/incandescent bulb. It has a brown w/white stripe and green wire. I'm thinking I hook it's hi/lo beam bulb wires right up to the stock 3 prong. And the 2nd running light/incandescent bulb: hook the green wire up with the other green wire to the 3 prong green. But what do I do with the brown w/white stripe? Guessing it's a power. Can't I just hook it to the 12v wire in the 3 prong connector also? HEATED GRIP QUESTIONS: Would it also be ok to hook my heated grips' 12v power wire up to the headlight prong 12v? Yes my grip kit comes with an inline fuse.

That second small bulb with separate wires is the parking light mandatory in Europe, Japan etc. Wouldn't bother to hook that up if I were you. It would probably hook up to the accessory wiring.

gotcha. Yeah I remember my Triumph T595 having the same small auxillary bulb. What do you mean by hooking it up to an accesory wire? Is "accessory wire" that a general term or specific?

With accessory wire I mean the wire that is hot when the key is in Accessory position. My BMWs had a position in which you could remove the key and only the parking lights front and rear would work, same for my Harley. You might have a connection for that parking light under the tank or near the steering head. I don't think they would make a special wiring harness just for the US. But then, what do I know...

ok i got you now. I'll look for a wire that has power when ACC is on the ignition and none when it's not on.
