Jolly Rogers, NW MC history, Brotherhood of mud

Jolly rogers they are a 70 yr or so old MC club out of seattle. when I was a kid they put on hill climbs in Kent,
plenty joke about biker pirate costumes, these guys had in their logo 70 yrs back. I am happy to see they are still around, seems they have gone to street riding, maybe some of you should check them out, their meetings are open to the public, all brands welcome.

the ol' timers sure could ride. the hill climb pics whoa....
there are some latter day pics of some of them on dualys.

there is an incredible amount of NW MC history on their web site if you poke around, i found my self doing so a 4am today due to the flu. the seattle cossacks are a bit older I think starting in 38', not sure really. the club started from a core group of highline HS grads ( so. seattle, burien), the pirate logo is from the schools mascot. dont miss the blog, it has tons of history.

Yes, many thanks! How cool it was to have a track 15 minutes from our house. My Dad raced on the scambles track from 1965 to 1969, I started my less than impressive racing days there on the wicked fast SL100 in 1970
Returned in the early 80's when they had the motocross track. Again, slow enough to be timed with a calender But it sure was fun!

cool ! back then I had a works 71' SL100, ( ok it worked ) made the first WA state High school MX @ puyallup, still have it. i should of bought a hodaka fer racing.
I never raced @ jolly rogers track but did hit orting pit, startup.
too bad they do not run more scrambles, TT, easier on the body then MX w/ doubles etc.

there used to be a track at picnic point everett, with MX races, its now a boeing building. i never knew they had races in shoreline ( my old stomping ground waaaay back) until reading this article. back then we used to whine about how much better riding must of been 20-30 yrs before.... hhhmm

THANKS for posting this link. I knew Peppy really well, having met him back in 1963. I remember that he was a m/c racer, but was no longer doing it. I'm certain I saw those albums that were posted online. He really got me started wrenching and I still have some tools that he gave me to get started. I've dropped a personal note to Lisa, his daughter, who posted the album, to re-connect with her if she wants.

I recall that there was racing up near Bitter Lake.

Although the Jolly Rogers motorcycle club no longer owns their riding property in Kent, recently we have been trying to rekindle our local involvement in hillclimbs and dual sport riding.

We helped sponsor both of the Olympic Penisula motorcycle club's hillclimbs this year, at their property just outside Port Angeles:
http://www.opmc.org/sponsor.html

A couple of us attended and rode in the Easton Dual sport ride as well.

Most of our riding and event attendance revolves around street bikes (mostly cruisers). Many of us own and ride dual sport bikes, and dirt bikes. A couple of us even ride big trallies. Next year I am going to try to get a bunch of us to attend and ride the Odessa 100.

In case anyone is wondering if we are a 1% club, our charter is the American Motorcycle Assn (AMA), which does not allow 1% clubs on their roster. The AMA recognizes the Jolly Rogers m/c as a historical family motorcycle club.

Birdmove, those 125 pursangs were awesome, what a cool bike.
one was always thorn in my side at startup mx, i had a 73' 125mx yamaha, it handled like a garbage truck unlike your bultaco ( RIP Jim Pomeroy ) . and you were from highline high, how cool is that to have a MC club after your school mascot. mine would be wearing a kilt.

Timmer glad to help, I was running a search for Vic Ebbutt, moto race photographer, did you know him? his pics would fill a museum, he had a daughter I hope she is able to donate etc. his pics. it would be a shame for those to not be seen.
here is a link to an ama national hill climb put on by jolly rogers, it has some Vic Ebbutt pics.

Debueller, glad to see your keeping things going thats lot of history

The two riders in the Easton Dual Sport ride were Greatseymour and his son Dave, largely responsible for breathing new life into the club. Find interesting details at their successful site http://www.jollyrogersmotorcycleclub.com

The two riders in Easton were Greatseymour and his son Dave, largely responsible for saving the club along with help from more famous Carmen Tom. Find our entertaining web site at http://www.jollyrogersmotorcycleclub.com which includes local notables Mickey Fay and Ron Bennett. Also check out the Blog.

Otto Drager is also a key figure in the establishment of another local MC, founded in 1934.

Thanks for the information. Though I wasn't a member, I did race there in high school. Highline High class of 1972. Though I was a talentless hack, I started riding at eight years of age and never quit. I did it for fun. Four of us raced there-all in different classes. Me on my stripped down Bultaco 125 Lobito, which was a very mildly tuned trail bike; my old friend Chuck Lewis on his beautiful Bultaco 250 Matador; Paul Lindholt on his 175 Yamaha CT-1; and Dana Jurgenson on his monster 405 Husky. We also used to go and watch the hillclimbs, which were amazing.
Once I was practicing there on my 125 Bultaco and still had the speedometer on it. At he end of the straightaway my litle 125 was doing right about 50 mph.
