If you happen through Cody, Wyoming, stop in and check out the Dug Up Gun Museum. There are some interesting stories in there.

A real one, in a parking lot in Mesa AZ. It was 112 deg and had been sitting in the sun for awhile. On the pavement. Black pavement.
Good thing I had my gloves on.

Speaking of, I found a bungee cord last summer, but I couldn't pick it up. The rubber in the cord has melted INTO the also melting asphalt

Just walked in and found it had turned itself on somehow. Now it seems to be working fine?

#1. Blakey Ridge in VA: A sweet pair of curved jaw mini vice grips that had been powder coated black. This was about a decade ago and still carry them to this day. Actually used them as a rear brake lever once on the Big Red Pig.

#2: San Juan Mountains CO: Fannypack with a pair of eye glasses, a comb, AND $280.00 of cash.

#3: Door County WI: Brand new, full, cabela's tackle box.

And random small tools and other miscellaneous crap.

1, A real nice fireman's ax, reconized it as the one usually mounted on the town's pumper truck so returned it to the station.

and a couple months later.....

2, while driving down the street in my truck with a buddy I saw the firetruck pulling out of the station. I said to him "We'll stop and let them go, then pick up the pieces that fall off." You should have seen how hard he was laughing when the truck pulled onto the street and a couple pipe fittings came tumbling out of the truck into the street. He thought I was kidding.

So...

They replaced them with a free Pair of Ray-Ban Aviators
This reminds me of a lost/found sunglasses story. When we were looking at houses I lost my pair of Ray Ban Aviators. We ended up buying a house and the next spring I was getting the garden ready to plant and found my glasses! It was a good thing that we ended up buying that house or somebody else would have found my glasses.

I found a cheap Swiss-Army style knife at a 4 way stop. It's been run over a a few times but still works, just missing the cork screw.

I found a big blue directional sign. The world looks different from GS-land. My car is lowered (a lot), so I never see anything.
