USB battery drain question

I just installed a USB power port directly to my battery (2008 990). I am using it to power my iPhone while riding. Couple questions.

With the bike off the port is live. Am I draining my battery even if my phone is not plugged in? The iPhone cable is plugged into the USB port.

Should I unplug the iPhone cable from the USB port or will this make any difference?

Thanks

Answered my own question. In case anyone else wants to know I called the company:

I have the lite version. It is drawing power, 1 amp. They say about or less than an alarm system. iPhone cable is passive. Their non-lite cable will drain the battery inside of a week.

I have a similar setup on the last two bikes I've owned. I've never had a dead battery during normal use and charging on trips or day rides. Where did you mount it?
