My Commandos
Fell in love with a Norton Commando when I was 13, saw it in a mag my uncle gave me. Few years later I picked an exact copy of the one I saw in the photos. Black with gold striping, 1972 Combat.
It dropped a valve one day, destroyed the engine and broke my heart. Didn't have the money to fix it at the time. Sold a it to a friend a few years later, who has since done an excellent restoration, you can check it out at his website www.reproductiondecals.com Here I am, many years ago, on my pride and joy ![]() Have since moved to Australia from Canada. Picked up another Commando, this time a 1971 with a Fireflake Golden Bronze paint job. Am loving it and have vowed never to make the mistake of letting it go again. ![]() At Myponga resevoir in South Australia with my mates Commando ![]() My other Brit ride is a 1956 Bantam but can't find a photo right now. She's rough, been used at a trials machine for years, but a good solid bike. |

My 1965 SS 650 looked like this when I got it in April, but the engine was very worn w/ blown head gasket, a cracked piston and worn rod bearings.
![]() ![]() I'm just picked up the last of the internal engine parts I need, and ready to begin reassembly of the crankshaft Lots of work ahead, but am enjoying the process.

Almost sold it a couple times and often wished it was a black or candy apple red example...but the colour has grown on me and has become one of it's defining characteristics for those who have known the bike over the years! The bike is original and going back on the road shortly after an eight year hiatus. A full service on it replaced the primary chain, battery, coils and high tension leads, plus a few cables and springs.
