Popped a Cascade "The Vine" opened, and an aged Meantime London porter. Crazy, but the porter is a hazy dark orange, no coffee or dark malt notes at all, its really carbonated and has a nice sour note to it. My girlfriend says its more like an "oud bruin" than a porter. I agree. (its been in the cellar for a while, though).

I made a Imperial Stout two weeks ago, OG was 1.170 and has come down to 1.030 in the fermentor. Currently soaking the ends of an oak cask from Woodinville Whiskey Company that had Bourbon in it. Plan on aging the Stout in that cask for 4-6 months to get the nice oaky/ bourbon flavor. Patience pays off in the end.

The Dalles gets a micro brewery

Big news around here is Defiance brewery. I've become a beer snob in recent years and I'm really glad to see it. The Dalles is so far behind Hood River there is no chance to catch up. They have all the good looking girls too (but we have better weather). I wish them luck.
