Apocacycle

Dad gave me a cycle mag and inside was an article about Wasteland Weekend. Not sure exactly how to describe it; sort of a Renaissance Faire with a Mad Max theme. Never seen anything like it so thought I'd take a shot at building an Apocacycle for this year's party.

Found this on Craigslist:

Got it running:

And now have some spare parts to gift or trade:

Most of this is just junk from a 1989 XVZ1300 but if you need mirror or a lens or some other odd bit, here you go, PM and we'll figure out how to get it to you.

Never having been through an apocalypse, I am not sure what to expect. I'm pretty sure I need:

130/90-16 dual sport rear
100/90/18 knobby or dual sport tire
MX pegs
MX bars and risers
Brake and shift pedals
Hand grips
Hand guards

If anybody has any apocalyptic experience, I can use all the advice I can get. I'm trying to do this for next to nothing so I won't be able to incorporate every idea but I'm sure with our collective madness we should come up with something acceptable.

Thanks,
Brett

Throw a gas tank and seat on picture number two and you are done. Preferably held together with an old belt and duct tape. Just work with whatever you can scrounge up.

^What he said.
Plus add a big knife or machete, a rifle scabbard, some crazy type of water storage(water is life, escpecially after the apocolypse) and some well worn leather saddlebags to carry your scavenged treasures.
Oh yeah and multiple mismatched headlights.
Maybe some sheet metal bodywork riveted together. More points for varying types of metal.

I say he needs to cover the seat with OD Green canvas to go with some Surplus duffle bags for luggage.

Pony keg instead of a top box for the water?

Riding Position

I need to settle on a riding position before I relocate the electrics. I'm told the venue is 2" - 4" of sand over hard-pack. I think upright is the smart direction, what say you?

Upright:

Less so:

Are you the Stig? I like the bars back like original and headlights stacked three up the tree like on the old choppers but overkilled

4/5 Gallon steel drum (with oil Co. markings; pref. scuffed); strapped on with steel packing tape, would make an ideal fuel tank. Fitting the fuel tank on the back would look even better! Hang your luggage and shit off the front where the tank should be ....

I think fully upright with ape hangers would be a fun way to go, like the bad guy in Akira.
