For those who may have missed it, there's an amazing ride report from a few years back by flyingavanti,
who took lots of these Then & Now pictures as they rode through South America .

It's a great read!!

Googling "decoraton day"....who knew? I didn't!

This is an awesome thread. The weather's finally closed out the riding, so it's the perfect time to plan some trips!

Thanks!

Steve

Nicely phrased. I certainly enjoy old photos of buildings and landmarks but, like you, find myself wondering about the folks who might be in them...certainly they had their dreams, plans, thoughts, fears, etc... and they are gone now.

Ned
Exactly. I find myself wondering about the people and the effort necessary to build the structures in pretty inhospitable conditions and locations...............and now all gone

Thanks for the great Thread.

I may have been taught wrong, but I have always been told that the "then" pictures were closer to the natural state of trees in the west than what they are now. Mostly due to vigorous fire control practices throughout the 20th century. Historically, due to fires and droughts there were fewer trees than there are now.

There are some very cool pictures in this thread though!
