[IMAt the Dutch Motorcycle Show “Tweewieler RAI” of February 1976 Ed Pols presented a folding camper sidecar that was hitched to a Honda Goldwing. It took a demonstration team about 30 seconds to unfold the sidecar and transform it into a spacious frame tent. In the field the whole procedure would probably take about two minutes. Complete with draw-out kitchen the sidecar weighed 120 kg, fully loaded the weight was about 170 kg. The camper sidecar used the same frame as the passenger sidecar P1. It was sold for NLG 4,500.= (that was about US$ 1750 at the exchange rate of those days: US$ 1 = NLG 2.64).

Have you already navigated your way through this thread from four years back?

Now this looks handy for overnighting . . . in arctic weather!

Vortexau, I have seen that photo and have it in my picture file. I sure don't need anything that elaborate but the idea is amazing....I wanted originally to build something along those lines but with a top that would lift from the rear like a Slipstreamer camping trailer. Very simple and sleek but with the room to sit up on the end of the bed facing rear and yet long enough to lie down and sleep.

I have the idea in my head but not really the money or skillset to build it.....

I really like Egads1 camper on that thread as well....I even thought I could adapt the camper tub for my dog to ride in. Unfortunately there is no way I can afford a camper like that to adapt to a sidecar....I am 68, somewhat disabled and living on a fixed income that won't allow luxuries like that.

Oh well,
brian

I was going to post a pic but it is way too complicated for my old withered brain...Nothing like the other forums I am a member of...

So suffice to say that I have my tentkot mounted between the bike and hack....it folds down to about 8"x8"x40"

i think the small one would be perfect to fit on a cargo sidecar

small:.
Open: 130 x 200 x 100 cm high
Closed 65 x 200 x 30 cm high

medium:
Open: 180 x 200 x 115 cm high

Cheers Flodder. A sign that big ... lets see ... you must have enough for another two bodies ?

I remember the earlier body from seeing pic's of it at different rallies. More or less a box trailer style from memory.

In progress 2013

My first thought was to have the Tent Cot type arrangement, the next thought was to have a camper type top made at a canvas shop. At $2,000+ it seemed a bit steep, so I am redesigning so that my mattress/bag/and pillow have a storage space on top at the back. New design also allows me to build lighter. This will be on a C50 Suzuki Boulevard.

No pics at present, but as work progresses I will upload a few.
