Wargaming has announced a huge update for World of Tanks — Update 8.0 — which includes an “improved game engine,” new features, and new content. Most notably, the update is said to introduce “realistic tank movement physics” to the engine. The bullet points are below, and you can see the new look and Newtonian mechanics in the trailer above.

There was a russian physics demo video a while back that was crazy. This will change gameplay immensely. They also opened up a lot of places, did you see the bridge/aqueduct in Westfield?

Tanks will tumble down from the middle road in Lakeville all the time. I hope the damage models for jumping/landing will make sense. You have to have your crew killed when you try to jump off the cliff to the road below. Or can you jump a Maus on top of a T50-2 and run around like that?

As much as they've been talking about the new features recently, I wonder if we're going from 7.5 straight to 8.0. The physics changes are going to drastically change gameplay.

Not sure if I will do a type or not....how different is it from the regular T54.....in reality they are the same thing. I may just grind up to the 54 if they are indeed the same.

In reguards to the new models....I hope those that run those t50's and such around can roll the darn things....to see one upside down and putting a round into it as it sits with its little tracks spinning would be so great.

I would also hope for a little less finger of god from arty but I know that is not going to happen....I would bet if you put the times I have been killed 9 times out of 10 it is by arty.

You are right, I have not learned that this is an arty game with tanks in it....I keep thinking it is a tank vs. tank....or TD game. Arty that hides in the back and leaves the game with 8+ kills spread across 3 arty units is something of a problem. They are the finger of god....I liken it to squashing ants....and it requires about the the same amount of skill.

and you are right I will not learn....I will quit the game before I learn, and I think that unless that is corrected it will be the downfall of the game.

I actually bought a wespe....it is so fucking easy it is not even funny..it is a total bore, how people can play it is past me...no challange at all...shoot wait, shoot again, wait for another player to light up a target shoot wait...that is it, no stragety on your part, that is all put in front of you by the tanks that are out there playing, working for the win.....if you play the game at all you know where people gather...on the assault matches it is even more easy....like the above poster said, I picked a bush and one shotted him....lots of skill required there.....I think that is why I just can't play arty....it requires ZERO skill to play halfway well....but it is fun to listen to them bitch when you sneek in with a elc and blow them to shit.

Part of playing the "Tank Game" is knowing how to avoid artillery fire.

Plenty of maneuvers in addition to natural/buildings to provide ample coverage from artillery. If you will not learn about them, then you will not get better at it.

You should quit playing if you expect "World of Tanks" to exclude artillery units, that way we can all be spare of your whining.

I'll just say that arty gets way harder the higher you go... In 54 matches with my SU-8, I've killed 37. Reload time goes way up, aim time goes up, longer shots so shell-time in air goes up. I hear the next arty is even worse. Yes the early arty are easy as heck. But it does get more difficult, guess that may be one reason there aren't many top tier arty around...

But yeah, if you have a tier7-8 artillery in your match, hide.

Or be the guy that takes one for the team. Get one-shotted in the middle of the map, then everyone else can play for 3-4 minutes while artillery reloads.
