Weren't you wanting a tier ten a while back? I thought you were contemplating the IS-7, but then were disappointed with its current roles. To me it would come down to - do I need a tier ten? At this point, having done it and seen the costs of losing a tier ten (plus the ammo costs, and the requirement to use gold rounds in even some pub matches), unless I had plans to join clan wars sometime soon, I'd just keep researching tanks or lines you want and like. There is little joy in any tier ten for pub matches due to costs.

But then I gave up on arty after tier 6, too, because, again, there is little joy in having that much potential only to have pub teams hide close to you (so they aren't spotting) and / or just allow enemy flanks to pour through early.

I get enough kicks out of playing good tier 9's for pub matches.

----

Any of you guys ever know a tier ten player to not understand the map, and lose a clan war battle for the entire team?

Well, now you do. I fucked up last night and had my tank in a position that would have kind of worked, but then someone noticed I was about 100 yards south of where the battle commander really didn't explain well enough where to go... so in trying to move to that spot a few minutes into the game, of course the whole enemy team shows up where I would have spotted them far earlier if I had just stayed in the spot I wasn't supposed to be in.

I mean, it was like 5 seconds later they came around the corner that I was spotting up. This gave my team far too little time to react... and we lost a territory we could have easily held for a lot of gold.

I'm not taking the full blame as I have never been to that spot, nor seen that feature, and it wasn't described to me at all when he clicked on the map and had one of our two IS-4's go there. But, man, it was my fault anyway.

I have yet to see a Tier 10 in battle.

I have been in battles with 6 Tier's 9 per side.. but still haven't see a Tier 10 on the field.

I have Elite Tier 1 thru 8 tanks... don't have a 9 yet.
I have arti up through Tier 5.

Do 10s only fight 9's and 10's?

The spread of heavy and medium tanks should be tier 8's through tier 10's for a tier 10 battle.

But then tier 5 AMX 12t's get placed in tier ten battles.

And, of course, with platooning mixed tiers anything is possible.

If you play a tier 8 that is a heavy or medium, unless it gets the special MM treatment that some premium tanks do, you will see tier 10's eventually (like up to two or three of them per side). For example, my KV-5 doesn't see tier ten battles unless I platoon with a tier-8 tank that does. The KV-5 has enough armor to be OK in a tier ten match, but has a dinky little gun. My T34 heavy, on the other hand, gets to see tier tens, and has had some good effectiveness against them.

This brings to question just which tier 8 tank you have elited that isn't seeing tier tens?

Yeah, I sort of want the Tier X experience, just to be the top dog on the field, but there are other lines I want to explore too.

However, I just got "Ace" mastery and a Top Gun with my Su-26, so what the hell.

Easily get to see tier 8/9/10's with a tier 5 T-50-2, Chaffee or VK2801, repair bills can be up to 20k per battle.

I stop at tier 9's with tier 10 guns like the T30. I can pen 10's without always having 10's in the match.

That's my thinking as well. With practicing peeking and shooting at the most opportune times, good players in tier 9's can, and do, beat tier ten tanks/tankers all the time.

Just had an awesome moment in my ELC AMX - got up against something with a really long gun, and stayed inside it pushing up against him. Like, the end of his barrel was further than my entire chassis. Took a friend of his to flank me and end the nonsense.

In two different platoons with two buddies we won most every tier 6 through tier 9 battle we entered today. It was great. What wasn't great was that in between each battle tonight we were trying to win in our AMX 12t's. No matter how well one does in a 12t, if it's a tier 9 or 10 battle then one has to rely on the team to help get the win... and we lost every f'n battle. So a great winning ratio killed to a 50% ratio due to having to rely on pubs who do not belong in tier 9 tanks. My buddy was having a great night in his 12t, but that means diddly when team after team doesn't win.

Hope you were shooting him, too, Smithy! Catching some bigger tank out alone can really be fun in an ELC

Fast as I could. Put 4 or 5 round in his side, maybe 50% damage, before I got lit up. I was just going to circle and bait him, but realized when I got close how long his gun was and how short the ELC is. Dove in. Awesome.

So I have a Super Pershing (the gold tank).

I'm about to unlock the Pershing (equiv. non-gold Tier 8).

Is there any reason not to sell my gold pershing and put the crew in the regular pershing?
My long term objective being to unlock the Tier 9 above the reg. pershing.

Premium tank costs less to repair, earns more every battle.

As you research higher tier vehicles, you will realize that you need to make profit on other (premium) tanks in order to play random battles with higher tier (non-premium) vehicles.

You keep premium tier 8 tanks - like, forever.

They support everything you try to do in high tiers in as far as ammo and repair costs, plus are the money makers for all additional parts, crews, etc.

You would train the crew for the Pershing, but then could use them without penalty in the Super Pershing.

.......

Edit: It was great playing with you guys today.
