I still like ADV for the sticker / logo, but I'm not as active with it...

It speaks of the origins of the clan. I guess the non-motorcyclists coming into it are going to prefer the FYYFF. Changing it over may bring about more questions or recognition of what FYYFF really means, though, and may end up getting the name banned altogether.

If people ask me I always tell them the canned story, Foreign Youths yearning for freedom.

You would be suprised how many people actually think that I am telling them the straight scoop.

I was in a game with rjbergen and (I think) skidmarx last week and someone asked us what FYYFF meant. I gave them the canned story, Foreign Youth Yearning For Freedom, and they responded "That sounds an awful lot like the Hitler Youth." So in that case, the real meaning actually would have been less offensive.

There was no "freedom" about anything to do with Hitler.

The real meaning is more Hitler applicable

i do. but i'm still pissed I can't get it to work. I think in some cases it might help decide who I follow, especially in slow ass tanks like the Proto and KV4. once a decision is made which direction to go with those, you're fucked if you choose wrong.

No kidding....amazing just how stupid people are.

Mine asked what we did, I told them we help children in areas of the world that are in conflict, Syria for example....they said it sounded like good work.

Side is it did make me feel a little bad, but then I remembered that I acutally do give money to a charity that does that kind of work...so I am good.

I agree with your theory. In practice it has helped me in both tanks... especially the Proto.

I never thought anyone would go as far as asking what we did, or how we were affiliated with Foreign Youths... I guess I'd just tell them that I have often bought clothing that was most likely made in third-world-country sweat-shops where they had kids making my ties, shirts and pants for far cheaper than typical American workers? I support their meager paychecks while they continue to "yearn."

That's what we believe now, but it's not what the people who followed him before he took power believed. Remember, Hitler was legally appointed Chancellor and his party was voted in as the majority party in their Parliament. Within Germany, he was widely viewed as a savior from the Great Depression (they were hit pretty hard by it too) and from the oppressive restrictions that were placed on the German people as sanctions following WWI.

Additionally, there's a very negative connotation to the "Nazi Party" and the "Hitler Youth" now that we see what they have done, but their original names didn't give cause for much alarm back then. They were originally called the "National Socialist German Workers Party" and the "League of German Worker Youth", respectively.

So he actually did represent "freedom" to the majority of the German people and his rise to power was mostly through their legitimate representative democracy at the time. After his rise to power, he exploited a loophole in their constitution that allowed him to suspend Parliament and act as dictator.

Anyways, I can see how someone could make the connection between "Foreign Youth Yearning For Freedom" and "League of German Worker Youth" if they've studied German history, specifically the history of the Weimar Republic. He probably wasn't actually a complete idiot for making that connection, especially when you consider Godwin's Law and that we are playing an online game involving tanks used by Nazi Germany.
