I played my first game in a T71 today, it sure is a different tank. I think it needs the engine to be worth much though as that thing is pretty slow getting up to speed with the stock one. I do like the fact that I ran through a cluster of tanks in 1 shot land and shot 3 on my way through taking their guns out of the battle. then went and hid for a while to reload. then back at it. I did however get roasted by an IS that was coming back to defend cap.

I think go into res_mods/8.6 and delete all that stuff. I did that when I found mods not working/didn't like and the game still played.

I installed an updated gun sounds pack which is pretty cool. XVM is on there but I don't consider it a big deal anymore. I do like keeping track of hits/damage however.
One of the nicest mods is the final statistic which keeps a running tally for each game session of wins/losses/xp/credits.
Maybe tomorrow I will actually get to play some. But I doubt it

I'm using the 107. The 122 is just too slow, inaccurate, and really doesn't seem to penetrate any better than the 107.

You have to play it as a medium... roll in, do 400dmg, roll out and reload...

I dunno. Like I said before, I find it a nicely balanced game now, playing Artillery is no longer 2nd grade whack-a-mole, but a real skill, and if played well, can still contribute mightily and rack up kills. I think what happened is, we just lost all the bad arty players, so if you see arty in your game, fear them. Fear them well.

What he said!!!! I seem to be killin the stupid ones , U know who U are standin in the open admirin Ur last shot, and dyin by the good ones

you sure they weren't taking a nap in preperation for their dirt nap? That is a long time to admire the shot.

I completely agree. I still personally enjoy arty a ton. Also players are not as arty safe as they used to be.

For me, I enjoyed the T21 a ton. Switching to the less agile and stock T71 was amazingly painful - my least favorite stock tank yet. Elited, it's sweet, but auto-loaders are a different beast. Took me a couple hundred battles in the AMX12t and T71 before I found a strategy that usually works well for me -- typically top 5 damage when in any tier. I know you got the Chinese auto-loaders, but from what I've seen those play rather differently. Maybe not though, never tried them myself.

I am actually trying to play it like you do with the ELC AMX...

One of the tricks I've found for the T71 is to do what you need to to stay alive as long as possible, aka, don't suicide scout.....the deeper into the battle you can go, the more dangerous you become to the other team. The BatChat plays the same way.

I play most of the light tanks this way...then I am that sneaky little fucker that will come up and take that last 200hp away....and then zoom off.....all the while arty is yelling SCOUT.

Autoloaders are the cleanup crew. Let other tanks do the damage and distract, then zoom in to clean up.

Or sit in the bushes and snipe. That top gun penetrates well, and is very accurate. You can really annoy players by zapping them for 150hp every few seconds.
