Now that I've played arty on the maps and can figure arty hiding spots. I stay zoomed out in likely hiding holes, wait for a tracer, zoom in and let one fly.

I shot 4 times last night with my arty at 3 tanks sitting side by side I was zoomed on the one in the middle and i never even splashed one of them. on another battle i shot 4 times and never even saw where it went.

I gave up after that

I don't worry about hiding spots. As a light/medium, I never have problems spotting arty, so why invest the energy?

Concentrate on firing position. Think about the arc and the target's orientation. Doesn't matter if it is flat ground, only the part of the tank that you are aiming at.

One of the biggest mistakes tankers make is placing the marker on the top of the turret. You aren't shooting straight down - the shell will typically arrive at a 30-45 angle. If the center of your target circle is on the commander's hatch, you are guaranteeing a >50% chance that the shell will fly over the target and land several meters behind it. You will get superior results by instead aiming through the target. There are two ways to do this.

One option is to aim at the ground in the area behind the target. With minor adjustments, you can set the firing arc so that it passes through the center of the target's shadow. I most often use this tactic against targets which think they are protected by a shallow hill. Here is a visual aid:

The other method is aiming directly at a hull section that centers the shell arc around the target. On flat ground, common locations include:
a) head on - the center of the glacius plate,
b) side - the outside edge of the closest fender
c) rear - back of the engine compartment
d) in general - hull roof close to the bottom turret edge

Here is another guy that describes these tactics in detail:

I just got a call that WoT won't open due to a corrupt file. It downloaded 7.4 and installed, and now won't run. I should go home and tend to the emergency

Is the SU26 stupid accurate for an arty, or is it just me?

Encounter is a 15 minute time limit, king of the hill match. Both teams are on offense, capture the flag or kill the other team to win. From what I've heard, battle type will be random, just like the map selection.

I expect things will be chaotic for the next couple of weeks as people figure out these new modes.
They do sound like fun.

I got everything installed lastnight, joined the clan and all. Picked up a logitech headphone thingy and could hear and see people but could not talk to them.

I was a different color....have to figure this out.

This is the only game that I play.....I may send one of you guys a message if I get on tonight to try to figure this stuff out.

Yup, one of the best. I have been playing it since the first week I started the game, and it's still one of my favorites.

Received and accepted. There are 19 of us now in the clan. We really ought to form up a company one of these evenings once enough people figure out the voice chat.
