There is an interesting demo on Youtube by a French Rider, inventer, Pelpas who tests similar skis on his BMW 1150 GS. Watch it to the end he starts swinging the bike round, quite impressive. Video below courtesy of Pelpas :

Next thing he'll have a water based one

Seriously though, some good, simple engineering, and would undoubtedly save a fortune in drop damage going to such as the Elephant. 10/10 for effort there

yup!

Sadly I've never made it. Back in the 80th, when the event was still in Austria, a bunch of my friends went on their winterbikes (MZ-hacks) on a regular basis. I normally didn't carry the insurance through the winter, and didn't really have the right bike for it .

I'd be set know - but now I'm on the wrong continent

I went there in the 70's and 80's, then I moved to the US.
It was outlawed in Germany for a while, then moved to Austria and now back home in Germany.

Yes. Rode from the "Hunsrueck" area, Simmern to be exact, if you wanted to google it.

Yes I hear it's pretty cold right now, but I live in Michigan now.
Never was that cold over there when I lived in Germany.
