Thanks kindly Earl. Glad it was of interest.

If you care to check out my website below you'll find few places you may recognise from your neck of the woods.

Nice pictures! Good to see Gunwharf (I remember whan that was a Royal Navy base), The Hard, The Camber and Old Portsmouth.

Liked the Bournemouth Images also. Boscombe is a lovely place to visit and watch the surfers! If you are ever down that way on a Tuesday evening during the summer ride up to Poole Quay for the bike meet, often over 1000 bikes will attend.

Elefanttreffen / Elephant Rally

Couple of people asked what Elefanttreffen (Elephant Rally) is about:

It gets its name from a bike called Zündapp KS 600. It has a boxer engine similar to BMW. The Zündapp 601 with a sidecar was called the "Green Elephant".

Back in 1956 the first rally was organised in Solituderennen near Stuttgart and about eight hard core Green Elephant owners turned up. In later years other makes of bikes were allowed to join the rally and the numbers gradually increased. In 1961 it moved to Nurburgring where huge numbers were emerging every year. Following various crowd issues it was moved to Salzburgring in 1978.

Since 1989 it has taken place in the Bavarian forest in a valley near the town of Solla where the snow is pretty much guaranteed and riders from all over Europe participate. The attendance is thought to be between 5 to 10 K.

Can't guarantee absolute accuracy but probably near enough background info.

Interesting question.

Does anyone in the community (Germany / Italy or any other?) know who does these type of conversions and any indication of cost? Many thanks.
