Yep, I've got 2 K-bikes. A '86 K100RS and an '94 K1100RS.
I ride my 1100 every day and it has approx. 180000km (112.500 miles) and I still love it. It gets a bit boring sometimes but when doing 200km/h (130mph) for an hour without getting tired I remember why I bought this bike. It is just brilliant. My K100 is a different story, I got it for free in parts. The guy I got it from took it apart after he burnt the clutch. He didn't have the skills or nerve to rebuilt it so it stayed in his garage for a year before his wife started nagging. He did hear me talking about my 1100 and offered me the bike under 1 condition: I had to rebuild it and not sell it in parts. So I picked it up and rebuild it. I found a very rare original BMW sportsseat which looks very good on the bike. I'm currently building a hack to fit to this black beauty. K1100 ![]() K100

I loved my 85 K100RS, I bought it as a project bike at Bob's BMW, I think a paid $1200 for it, the dash was non functional, needed tires and the battery was dead.
I fixed the dash gremlins by soldering the bad ground and tensioning the pin sockets. New tires and a battery and I was cruising on my first BMW! I loved that bike and the way it could be ridden with so little shifting, grunt from idle all the way up and great engine braking. 3 or 4 gear on the twisty back roads with no shifting or brakes, roll on roll off! I grew tired of the heat roasting my nuts in the summer and after I broke my neck riding enduros, I could not ride it comfortably with those low handlebars. By that time I rode my friends GS and I was hooked, I sold the k to buy my 02 GS 1150. Great bikes, mine was silver with the BMW system cases, I have to dig and find some pictures to post

The Boxer RS fairing looks good on the classic K, BUT I have a 93 R100RS- and the fairing is so loud, I wonder about deliberately putting one... anywhere really? I even have a Laminar Lip on mine and it's still quite noisy.

Cool Hack.
I was trying to sell my 88 K100RS last year, and had little or no interest, in spite of what I thought was basically a give-away price on a bullet proof ride.
Guess I'll keep it after all.

I picked up a '85 K100RS about 1998 for $2400 with 29K miles on it. I rode it as my daily rider, commuter, and fast tourer for about 8 years and sold it with 115K miles to another inmate here for $2200.
I used Dunlop D205 radial tires on it. Transformed the handling ![]() Also installed bars from a K1, wider and lower, the additional leverage helped, especially in tight stuff. It was a great Maryland/Virginia/West Virginia bike, but made way too much heat to be very useful when I moved to Alabama. I'd buy another again in a heartbeat if I moved north again.

Our first touring bike. I've had mostly dirt oriented bikes over the years including two current KLRs. Only road worthy bike was a Vulcan 1500 crusier. This was a great buy at $3,500 and 40K miles, pristine condition from the original owner.
If I want to take the wife and/or just eat up pavement, this is the way to go!
