How about showing some interesting vehicles from around the developing world. Here are three I took two years ago in Egypt. Look closely at the pickup...

These were taken in March 2010 when I visited Alexandria and Cairo as part of a Mediterranean cruise. Very memorable place. If there is a conveyance that you can imagine, wait on a street corner for a short time, and it will come along by and by. I love the homebuild scooter/three-wheeler. Check out the CD bling! The Scooter/three wheeler/horsecart photo was taken on a fairly major arterial street in downtown Cairo. The guy on the "regular" motorcycle was taken just north of Cairo. The Pickup/camels photo was taken across the street from the Sphinx. Although I was on sensory overload by the end of the visit to Egypt, I'd love to go back and take some more time to really see the country. The pyramids are truly magnificent. I had no expectation of being impressed, but they are simply overwhelmingly amazing. Sad that the country is in such straights now. I hope it gets better soon.

Traffic in Cairo was, uh, chaotic, to say the least. Most rules of the road seem to be optional. No one wears helmets or seat belts, as far as I could tell. No wonder it has one of the highest rates of traffic fatalities of any city in the world. I gave the tour bus driver a 50 euro tip and told him he was the bravest man I ever met!
