I'm in for riding down Rose Garden Hill... I dropped my bike last time I went down Rose Garden... I'd like to ride it without wrecking!

I''l be the first to admit that what I lack in skill, I make up for with a desire for self-preservation. On this ride, we'll have the option to ride Onion Creek instead of Rose Garden. We'll all be checking in at Dewey, then the two (or more) groups can take the high road (Rose Garden) or the low road (Onion Creek). I'll choose the low road.

ohv stickers

I got to thinking, which is always a bad thing, will a Wyoming tagged bike need any special ohv tags/stickers for the ride? Including any Saturday Moab riding ? I am getting in plenty early Thursday to get whatever is needed. Can't wait!

Yes, that is about 1/3 of the way down Rose Garden hill. It didn't end very well for him, but he was OK. I also fell in about the same spot. More pics and details in the ride report I linked to on the previous page.

Looks like I am good to go on this trip (one way)., That is if I can firm up a ride over the mountains.

Mac, a PM your way comes.

Rosegarden Hill

Greg, it's probably a little better now then when you went down, my son with zero dirtbike expierence did RGH on the XR400, he did drop the bike 2x but it was fall overs caused by stopping in a place where there was nowhere to put your foot. There's some lines that will get you down without too much problem (staying to the far left) You might be doing some dogpaddling though. I banged the skidplate a couple times on the XRR but didn't consider it overly difficult, like anything in Moab line selection is everything.

On the first leg of the Kokopelli, Mac will lead the tamer group, around Onion Creek. I will lead the group down Rose Garden.

On the way back on Sunday, I think we have all agreed to run Onion Creek.

And....I am thankful for this report.....

No tags or stickers are required in Utah, if your bike is plated.

Let me emphasize again.....this ride is only for those with plated bikes!!!!

From a personal perspective, this sucks a little.....as I am having to tell my future son-in-law that he can't come. His YZ250 is smokin awesome....rode it today....but it's not for this ride.

We will be riding a good 15 miles or so on roads that require a plated bike and we are not breaking laws because someone wants to take a chance.

This is non-negotiable folks......If you show up on an unplated bike, you are on your own.

I'm a maybe

If I can get my forks assembled on Tues, per plan, and if I can find others to carpool with out there from Boulder, I can probably make it. Anyone have space to carry another bike in their rig? Looks like we need to carry our camping gear and camp out somewhere along the way? Where exactly do we leave the vehicles on this ride? Is it a safe spot?
