Looking for new battery , 950 Adv

I'm gonna be a lot more interested in these new-fangled batteries a few years from now if they're still going strong. Until then...I'll stick to a known quantity.

Agree.

I was an early adopter on LiFePO batteries and it bit me in the ass.

Sticking with AGM batteries for the forseeable future.

I notice that the dimensions for the Shorai battery LFX18A1-BS12 are different than the stock Yuasa YTZ14S battery. Any trouble getting it into the battery box, or with it moving around in there?

Shorai's come with foam with adhesive to make them fit good and tight. Don't worry it'll fit good and tight and you'll be saving 8-10 lbs.

Still working OK? Do you remember what the model number was? I was at Walmart today and they didn't cover the KTM 950 in their application guide, but the price on those batteries is right

I finally decided not to buy the Shorai battery as I heard a few negative things about it from various sources. It had to do with starting in cold weather which surprises me. In fairness to Shorai, it was just hearsay. I am still using the original battery in the bike.

If you go to Batteries Plus, they have what you need in agm. I think it cost about 90.00 bucks. It started my carbed 950 in 25 degree weather. Very satisfied.

ballistic 16 cell in my "11 990 dakar. best batt ever. also have a 12 cell in my ' 09 530 exc and going to put a 12 cell in my 350 exc. nothing better than too much battery!

I've been using a Shorai in my 950 for about six months, no problems so far and man, is it ever light.

However I heard a filthy rumor that they aren't waterproof, and a river crossing could well leave you with a dead battery. Is this true?

Yup,, still going strong. There wasn't a listing for the 950, I just matched up the dimensions. I'll check what the model # is later today.

My cheapo Wally World battery replaced the second Batteries Plus AGM in 6 months. Both did the same thing,,,,, all was fine until one day I press the start button and "click" nothing. They replaced the first one but refused the second saying the problem was my bike.

The Wally World battery that fits is ES9BS. I ride all year round and don't use a tender. The battery has started my Adventure everytime.

Tend to change batteries every few years for preventive maintenance.

Been using this for 6 months. Starts fine on those cool 30 degree mornings.

I purchased the cheapest battery I could off ebay for about $40 including shipping and had it for 3 plus years. No reason to buy all these $150 batteries because none of them last more than 3 years. I am working on my fourth year with my ebay battery and it still works wonderfully!

Does that 16 cell fit in the stock location , any pics of you install !
