Just remember what happens in the jeep stays in the jeep. You're not supposed to share here.

I have my eye on a celeste green steel (Columbus tubes, naturally) lugged frame Bianchi with a carbon fork and Campy gear - quite a lot of $$ at around $1,800. But I have had an expert in the industry look it over for me, and he thinks that for a vintage bike (understanding it is antiquated technology, and I might get a better modern bike at the same $$), it is a good deal.

More to follow.

I'd say for $1800 you need to start talking him down. Unless its a Ti Megatube (Litespeed) its overpriced.

...but a damn fine riding bicycle.

Gawd, I hope not! Those only look good on rides with shiny bits.

I don't know what the frame is, but, I love the raw look with lime.

This ain't steel but, I started looking for Amp Research bikes because I found one while dredging Craigslist after you started this thread. It cost me half of your original budget.

You got it. Shakedown ride of a little less than 4 hours Sunday. Really liked it.

As I was packing my bike to ship out with me last week, my brother told me I should get a folding bike instead of packing my Specialized Allez around the country. He then informed me that he bought one of those $2800 folding bikes marketed by BMW in the 90's on Craigslist for $200. "You better sell that to me," says me. Negotiations are still ongoing. :loll

Probably a crap bike, but still. It IS a BMW and it DOES fold.

You're better off with a Ritchey Breakaway or something with S&S couplers on it. That way you get a 'real bike' and not something half-assed. Alternatively Bike Fridays or one of those truss-style bikes that I can't remember the name of off the top of my head would be an OK bet too.
