I wasn't very clear in my post, sorry. I meant that I haven't had any electrical gremlins yet ... and since I have so much integrity (yeah, right) I should decline membership until such time arrives ... (but hoping I won't ever meet the membership requirements).

hey Norm,

it isn't about Ural problems, real or rumoured, membership in this exclusive Club is about convincing the masses that they should not buy a Ural because we current owners "hate" our machines, nudge, nudge, wink, wink:wink

Thanks for all the replies despite the topic change. For whatever reason after the first two replied I stopped getting emails so thought there were just the two replies, and I forgot to log into to say thanks. My memory isn't what it used. . I lie. . it's always been this way.

Anyway, it sounds like the ride to Bellingham is probably worth it, as is the extra warranty. You can't buy straight from the company in Renton can you? That's like 15 mins away! Though it sounds like it's a moot point as nobody loves their Urals, so I doubt I will like my test ride/training either, so probably won't even try to get one. Despite the styling and sound of 'em which has me thinking I must have had one in a past life or something, as they seem so 'Right'.

Well, thanks all. Maybe I'll get a Gixer instead. . . . . . .

Hey Chris,

Let us know when you don't get a Ural so we can not add you to the UUOC list.....

Enjoy the Gixxer!

I got my Patrol from Ural NW, great folks.
The "test ride" consisted of some basic instruction, riding around their lot until I was somewhat familiar with the feel, and then following Mark riding around on local back roads for a couple of hours.

When I came back the next weekend to pick up my rig, it was a full day affair. They showed me hands on, actually doing everything nessary to service, and maintain it, plus how to check and adjust setup.

Urals corporate headquarters, IMWA is in Redmond, not Renton, and they do not sell directly.

Well, I wrote both of them for quotes last week. Only UralNW replied. So should I buy one new, I know where I'm getting it. :) Customer service is everything to me. And from everything I can find, every year gets better. :)

Well, took the plunge. Bought myself a overpriced Russian tractor. I got the Forest Fog from UralNW. Mark said it was the one from IMZ's photoshoot. They didn't fully assemble it for the shoot, so Mark had to tear it and and assemble it from scratch.

I also picked up the car wind screen for my pup, a Tach, ignition bezel to help protect the paint, and jets. Mark installed 'em all before delivering it the next day. I've been out riding it, stopping from store to store to pick up odds and ends to give it plenty of cool down/warm up cycles.

Lifted my car wheel once. Wasn't prepared for that! My STEP class isn't for another week. :) But other than being REALLY timid around corners I'm loving, err, hating, yeah, HATING every minute of it!! I actually saw this dude as I was coming out of Fred Myers taking pictures of it. :) And I was asked about it a good 5 times. I've had physical possession of it less than 12hrs! One guy even knew it was a Ural.

Pic, 'couse without it, it never happened.
