When i talked to Antique tyres about getting some in for me .A while ago They said they get them from Europe .Where they are made, not from the USA. They do not bring them into Australia as a norm, as there was not the demand . So every order will have to be a one off. Air freight$$$$. If like 3legs said they are getting a container of tyres over by ship soon. It would be cheaper for freight. ![]() Cheers Ian |

Just so you guys know Elmer, Abenteuerfahrer , was looking for one of these last Spring and every dealer he called in the U.S. did not have any so I checked with my local Mom and Pop shop up here in the mountains and he checked around and said he could on ly find one so I grabbed it for Elmer. I needed a new tire on mine a couple of weeks ago so I went to the same shop and he said he could get all I wanted since it was Winter and the warehouses are stocked up on them.
I only have about 200 miles on mine so far so I can't say how long they will last but it looks like a lot harder compound than other snow tires I have had and Elmer said after 1,300 miles he has not noticed any wear so they might just last. Elmer also said that he has had his out in the sand and mud and they work really well. Just figured I would chime in with what I know so far, good luck guys. Dana

I fllowed up on the Silverstone. No joy at all. The current motor sport importer (Victoria) is Seemore Motor Sport. The fellow said that, if he was VERY lucky, there may be one or two of the 185, 195 or 205 widths still in the country. Reckon'd that the 165 would be rocking horse shit here.
And he wasn't interested in trying to import them. His advise was to contact a dealer in Europe (Demon-Tweeks has a web site) and see if they would try to POST tyres. I'm going to let the Vredestien enquiry run for a bit to see if it pans out first.

155/80 x15 for me
I just emailed Antique tyres about getting in a couple of the Vredsteins in 155/80, though I have said 165 will be fine if they can't get them, so if we're counting myorder is now for 2 tyres.
Cheers, Adrian |

More info
Hope this is ok Alex, given that you have done all the running on this, but I just received a reply from Antique tyres:
Hey Adrian, Thanks for the email on the Vredesteins. I have been in contact with Alex (3 Legs) about this but the 165R15 was the only one we were talking about at present. Adding some 155R15’s should not be a problem, it could help in fact as at present they are not able to supply the number of 165’s that I have requested. Price wise they are going to be around $120 - $150, I just have to get the final invoice and freight costs to work it out. I am leaning towards the lower end at this time. I will let you know how we are going. Cheers Ben Cheaper than I was expecting and it looks like it's going to happen, thanks Alex ![]() Cheers, Adrian |

![]() Just Emailed Antique tyres for a price on one of these for my WeeStrom 600/650 17" A set of those wheels would be cool as well but not sure if I want to know how much. ![]() To run this tyre I may need to get a humungus back sprocket made up. I think its a 31" diameter. It will help with ground clearance and also with rolling resistance in the soft stuff I should think. Will get one and see if it will fit up unless someone else has tried and failed for some reason. Of course it could lead to 17" wheels all round at some stage. |

Adrian this is the info on the tyre but there seems to be a typo error here ( it may well be a 15" tyre).
The next is slightly bigger and definately 17"
The width would not be overly important as long as it goes on the rim ok. The smaller size would do I think. CheersBruce. |

No problems Adrian. Got another e-mail from Ben......
I received an reply from Vredestein, they can only supply me 8 tyres at present for whatever reason. I will be trying to get more, I asked them for 20 so I will go back and see what the reason is for only getting 8. Price wise it will be more likely to be $120 - $150 and I am leaning towards the lower end. I just have confirm shipping cost’s. Will keep you posted. Cheers Ben Sorry about the colour. I have no idea how to fix it. Looks like we have about 15 or so that we need to get at the moment but that maybe a problem as you mentioned. Will wait and see. Cheers 3legs |

Thanks
Thanks 3legs. I guess many of us flagged two so we would have a spare, but only need one as a starter. If they have to be rationed, then so be it. No problem at my end. Hope this comes together. Cheers, Mick.

Cheers guys. Snayle put an order in for 2 as well so if we can get 20 in, Antiques should have no problems selling all of them. Nothing known as yet. Will let you know when I know.

I'd be concerned with that before worrying about a big sprocket to over come the gearing. I can see a problem or two with the hub if the wheel in the photo is what you're after.

G'day,
Ok here's the response from Ben from Antique tyres........ so it's 8 in the 165's and 12 in the 155's. I think the fairest way to make everyone happy is to order 1 each of the 165's on a first in best dressed basis. What do you reckon. I'll start the list, 3legs Snayle If you can think of a fairer way I'm all ears ![]() 3legs |
