Oops I forgot to add the response. Here it is. Again sorry about the colour.

Hi Alex,
8 is all I can get in the 165R15 but I am able to get 155R15s if this is going to be of any help.
On this order currently I have 8 of the 165R15 and 12 of the 155R15. Let me know numbers on the 155R15 as I wont put them on if they are not going to be any good.
Cheers
Ben

Yes please

I'll take 2 x 155, if there is enough, otherwise 1 is fine.

Cheers,

Adrian

I'm in

Yes please. I'd like a 165 (or two), but can equally run with the 155 if I need to.

Anyway, call it one of the 165's as a trial.

As I said in an earlier post, the diameter over a stock dual purpose tyre (25") is 25.4" for a 165/80 and 24.8" for a 155/80. That's an extra 12 revolutions per kilometre from the 155 to the 165, so on my weekend jaunt of almost 2,100 kms the wheel would do an extra 25,000 revolutions. That's what my sizing chart says anyway.

Cheers, Mick.

185 too wide

Don't think the 185 would fit the GS bikes. The 175 is close enough from what I've seen, and 165 would be even better in the bigger (80) profile. Best one I've seen that is readily available here is the Yokohama A-Drive 175/65-15. Nice grippy tread pattern, and what I may use if the Vredesteins take a while. It was $144 at Bob Jane T-Mart at Fyshwick, and a lot dearer at a Yoky dealer!

G'day

Ok at the moment we are at 1 each of the 165's for.........

3legs
Snayle
Pops
Mixr
Andrew2
Tripod Tiger
Leigh Hollamby

Total of 7 giving someone else a chance to order 1.

and 2 155's for AdvianV.

Does this sound about right? I e-mailed Ben again and he said that getting some in the future won't be a problem so long as he has advanced warning. I guess if we like them we can do another bulk order later in the year.

Let me know if I've got the above list wrong. I will e-mail Ben and ask him to order the 8x165's and at least 2 of the 155's and see if I can get a date for any last minute changes to the order.

cheers

G'day

Guys, I need confirmation of who is actually going to buy 1 asap please.

Here is Ben's reply....

will confirm the order for 8 of the 165R15 and I will get 4 of the 155R15 as they dont seem to be as popular.
I will put the order in the computer for all these tyres under your name so they will all be allocated to you.
If you can send through some address details I will put it all into place.
I know that Vredestein do not do a 175R15.
Cheers
Ben

Please send me a PM with your confirmation and address and contact details to send the tyres to. It will be easier for Ben to send them direct to you rather than to me and then send them off individually. I will then give Ben your names and addresses and you will need to make the payments to Antique tyres not me. Once you have confirmed you will be liable for the payment. I will ask Ben when we should expect them and any payment queries he may have.

Sorry to be a pain but I don't want to give the impression that the Advriders outfit blokes are a bunch of time wasting arseholes (which I know we are not).

Cheers

G'day

To the people who PM'd me, thankyou. All stock have now been accounted for and I have sent an e-mail to Antique tyres with an official request to order the tyres. I will speak to Ben in the next day or two to try and get more details re-delivery dates etc.

If the tyres turn out to be great we might try and get a bigger order in the future.

I have sent a PM to all the people who ordered a tyre. When more details known, I will advise.

Thanks again guys.

Cheers

Thanks for the info DirtyDR. Should be interesting to see how they perform on Aussie roads. As for you Snayle. I was going to send you a PM but I figured you wouldn't know how to spell it . Sorry mate I couldn't help myself.

Anyway, I spoke to Ben from Antique tyres and he has advised that the order has been placed. It should take approx 8 weeks to get here and delivered to you. He won't know the price of the tyre or postage until they get here but he reckons they shouldn't cost any more that what he has already quoted.
Once they get here he will send them asap. He said don't pay for them until they get here. He will contact either myself or the people who ordered them to organise payment. I have sent him your names and addresses. Unfortunately it's too late to back out, so to the people who have ordered please don't muck around with payment when requested as I don't want to give myself or Advriders a bad name.

Now the disclaimer, If you don't like the tyres please don't blame me, blame DirtyDR, nah just kidding As they say, don't shoot the messenger.

That's about as much as we can do for the moment. I will advise you of any details as they come to hand.

Later

Go ahead and blame me, see if I care. I will just send all of the hate mail to Elmer since he is the one that started all of this Vredestein stuff after all.

Buying one but selling it

Ok guys - I'm committed to purchasing one of these tyres and will do that so I don't screw with 3legs arrangements, but it will be surplus to requirements.

I'm not going ahead with the rear wheel conversion, so won't need the tyre. I'll be paying for the tyre to be shipped to Canberra, so let me know if you are in the region and want it. Costs will be whatever I get charged. Otherwise, it will end up as a cushion for my boat hull.

3legs - Arrangements stand as per your earlier post. Thanks. Mick.

EDIT: This tyre is now earmarked for someone, so arrangements are good. I'll pay for it and on-forward it when it turns up. Mick.

MIXR screwed with this post 02-28-2012 at 09:13 PM Reason: Typo and more info
