Both the movie that you quote, and the joy of changing plans. Life is wonderful. Enjoy your ride - when you actually get on the bikes ;)

You are so right, life is wonderful indeed
And if you look hard enough, you can always find something positiv and something that you should be thankful for, in every situation.
We have been on the bike the last 3 days and yes, we enjoyed it.

Plan or no plan...no difference anyway

One of the things I always liked most about our journey was , that we had a start point and day but no defined finish point .
The more time passed, the more I liked this concept and by now I'm pretty sure thats the way I will live my life : One long journey, where the end or finish point doesn't matter . The only thing that counts is the road, enjoying it and living it a 110 % ... on the bike and off the bike .

Luisa always knew that she would spent x-mas with her parents and her son in Guatemala , and I wanted to spent Christmas with my 4 kids somewhere on the planet . My first choice was Mexico , but I let the decision up to them . They kept me waiting since June and now finally 4 days ago they decided that they would like to spent Christmas in the Guatemalan Sierra (Cuchumatanes) , my favorite spot in Guatemala and New Year in the jungle of Peten , on a week long hike to the archeological site of El Mirador http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Mirador . I was really surprised and pleased , that from all the possible spots , they picked their home country for our reunion .
Unfortunately my daughter will not be able to join us because of her work schedule , but my 3 boys will be there . One has to fly in from Norway , the other one from Austria and the third one lives in Guatemala . It will be a great break from my bike journey, I'm all excited about it.

That means that all of a sudden I have a deadline about being back in Guatemala , that means that we needed a plan

So after chilling out for almost 2 weeks in Morelia , we decided to go to Zihuatenejo for a week to relax from our chill out session in Morelia . Some friends of ours found us a nice little house for rentand we were all set to go . While we were having our last breakfast before taking off, our friends got a message that the house was no longer available . The bike was packed, we had our gear and boots on already, so we decided to start heading towards Guatemala and to take our beach vacation somewhere in Oaxaca . Our first stop would be Valle de Bravo , to visit a good friend of ours and to try to see the Monarch butterflies .
So we went on the road of Las Mil Cumbres (the thousand peaks), one of my favorite routes in Mexico and 4 hours later we were in Valle de Bravo .

At the beginning I was afraid and worried that having a plan , would mess up my life . Now I know, that nothing changed . The unexpected still happens , what's supposed to happen , happens anyway . No need to worry

!!!!!! Life is good !!!!!!

Julio,

I'm sorry your daughter can't make the trip for the holidays. I think you and I talked about how happy it makes dads feel when all of their children are at one place at the same time. As they mature in their lives, it becomes a rarer and rarer occasion making it even more special.

I hope it can happen next time.

You & Luisa ride safe.
