New air filter

Look what I got in the mail today

New air filter from Pipercross. It is much thicker then OEM filter and should offer a much better protection from dust.
I have been running two Pod filters together with the OEM for the last couple of weeks and thou it works fine (slightly different sound but no noticeable different in performance) it will be nice to give the Pipercross a try.

Will post some more pictures comparing the Pipercross to the OEM filter later tonight or maybe tomorrow.

New filter mounted up.

Hope these make it easier to see the difference between the OEM filter and the Pipercross.
The foam edge seems to be thicker on the OEM in the second picture but they have equal thickness in reality.
The Pipercross filter is a two stage filter with the black foam as the first stage. You can see how the black foam sticks out from the filter making it thicker then stock.

I have only ridden it for a few hundred meters yet. Do not know if it only my imagination or if it`s real but it felt more alert on the throttle those few hundred meters.
Seemed to breath easier. I will take it on a longer test ride this weekend and see if there is a difference.
Also I`ll se how it copes with the dust during the summer.

Cool filter I just bought one as the stocker in my case was hammered. Curious if you could take a pic and more info on your pod pre filter setup. Somehow I lost those snorkel tubes you have upfront so I need to come up with something. Thanks

I mounted the two pod filters together with the OEM as some dust got past the OEM filter.
The Pod filters are mounted to the intake rubber snorkels and acts as main filters in this case, and the OEM as the pre filter. This is not the best solution as the pod filters compress the intake rubber when tightening the clamps.

Here are some pictures showing how they mount to the intake.

Now when running the Pipercross filter I have removed the two pod filters as the Pipercross should have better dust protection.

Yes the Pipercross filter is fully washable, but so is also the OEM. But should be worth the cash. Especially if you plan to ride on dusty gravel.

Broken frame

When riding some tough single tracks today i notice that the front fairing wobbled a bit to much.
This is what I discovered!

The lower mount had cracked on both sides and the headlight, fairing etcetera was only supported by the right arm that goes from the headlight frame to the bikes main frame.

Some straps had to due as a temporary fix.

And a safety strap used when going back on the highway

Disassemble .

Close up on the damage!

right side!

Left side!

A friend of mine are going to help with the weld during the week.

Might need to fabricate some extra support for the left side of the frame.

Might be a good idea to double the plates up on each side and weld those to the crossbar too. Just need longer bolts. That's a lot of weight banging around on that stock bracket
