scooter rental in Taiwan

I am going to be in Taiwan next week for work. I do have a few days between for fun. I want to explore the island outside the main cities. I will be in Taipei near the main train station but was thinking of going south and riding to the southern beaches.

In any case do you have any idea and best practices to get a weekend rental? I may just want to ride the gorge for a day and a half?

Thoughts?

Sorry, this may be too late.

You should have no problem renting a 125cc scooter. Some places may have 150cc, that that would be rare. Most Taiwanese don't take their scooters for long distances, so the place you rent from will be shocked at how far you drive it.

I've never been to the south, but the mountains in Nantou are great. Sun Moon Lake is nice. So is Xi Tou. Ba Gua Shan is okay.
