Broken Bike and Bones Ride

It all started when 4Play called me up to see if I wanted to ride out at mile marker 4 with him and a few others. I gladly said yes as I wanted to try a new to me trials tire that Slowred gave me last Sunday after finishing off the knobby I had. I wanted to try this tire to see if I like them and the price was sooooo good that I couldn't turn it down. Thanks Slowred!

I didn't get many pictures but here are a few of them.

Riders;

4Play
Utefan
Wolfster
Montek
Big E
refokus

Here are a few pics prior to leaving the staging area.

4Play and Utefan

Big E and Montek

My steed with a new shoe on the rear

Utefan was the first victim when he lost his muffler. He put it in the back of his pack and we continued on.

We were cutting through a sand wash when all of a sudden Montek stopped, through up his hands as was saying, WTF. His bike made a nasty noise and the motor locked up.
Here is Montek looking at the bike and he is a little sad at this moment

He busted a timing chain and had to be rescued so 4Play being the nice guy he is always wanted someone to ride bitch with him on his suped up KTM. They went to pick up his truck to get the bike, we stayed behind and had snacks.

They both had a smile on when departing, and I think Montek was a little happier than a few minutes before.

A few shots of the scenery, it was a really nice day to ride.

Well, we had lunch in Wickenberg then departed to ride the afternoon. We were only a few miles out of town when I came around the corner and Big E was sprawled out on the ground in front of his bike and him severe pain. I didn't take photos of this as I was really concerned for Eric. There were some hikers that had a pickup and once Big E was able to get up with much assistance we loaded him in to the pickup and to the Wickenberg ER we went. I did not get the name of the people from Idaho but they were super nice.

Here is the Berg waiting outside for his rider

Big E getting his riding gear cut off

Checking the leg

Huge bump, looks pretty bad

Big E was a little nervous here when they said that the shirt needs to be cut off or Circumcision was next....

The shirt was his choice

And here is Scott the RN that was helping out Big E

Big E is getting transported to Good Sam to operate on his leg. Broken ankle and leg. I am not sure on the shoulder but once we get news all will know.

That looks painful. 1200 miles of death valley without so much as a biff then he crashes in Wickenburg. Sux.

Heal fast Big-E.

Somebody post up as soon as you know something about the surgery.

I'm not liking the sound of this. That leg looks serious.

Dibs on the Berg.
Sorry Eric, I couldn't resist.

I just got home & unloaded both of our bikes. I saw the xrays & the tibia break below the brace was the main concern. Part of why they are doing the surgery right away is that with the shoulder injury he can't use crutches or get around at all.

I love the picture of Big E smiling, because I know how much pain he was in. Buddy, thanks for the update and looking forward to when you know more. It was a great day riding until Big E got hurt. Sorry Big E.

Dang, that really looks painful Big E. Did you break any bones in the shoulder or just tear soft tissues?
LMK if there is anything I can help with.

Heal quickly, we are all gonna miss you out riding with us.

Oh and Refokus, Dillon gave me the trials tire so all kudos go to him and Zenmoto!

Big-E, if you had just done Rug Road with us this would have been prevented.

Take care of yourself and get well soon. I think Big Blue will be in the pasture for some time.

Big OUCH

Just read the report... Sorry to hear about the injury Eric. You will still have to ride on the 17th, so no excuses.

Drop me a PM if you want me to install that Safari tank while you mend or when you get bored from your hospital visits.

I wasn't even thinking about that but you are right. Thanks to Dillon and Zen Moto!
The trials tire is so different than a knobbie, it took me a little while to get used to the different reactions that the back end would make. It wasn't very long and I am a believer on this tire for the type of riding that we do.
